We really wanted a local name (Flemish in our case) for our baby. I always find it so weird when a kid who's clearly from here has such an exotic name. Some are already pretty common, but personally, I'm not really a fan of it. Of course, a truly foreign name is often more original.

There are plenty of names that are foreign but still sound very Dutch. Go look for those together.

We actually have an Italian boy's name that sounds very Dutch.

You can also give two names That's what we want to do too.

You mentioned that your child has 2 names. I want to give my child 3 names, which I also have. My name is Syntia Cara Sjelen.

    Your names are nice, Syntia.
I don’t have kids yet; we’re currently trying for our first little miracle. My husband has already chosen two original foreign names (a boy’s name and a girl’s name). I want our children to have a Dutch nickname. I think girl names with more vowels are beautiful.
As Linda says, there are names that are common in other countries but, for example, in a different variation.
Do you already have certain names in mind?

    Love,
    Sophia

Thank you, Sophia, for your compliment on my name. It's nice that you're also choosing two foreign names for your baby. Good luck with your baby! Greetings, Syntia

I also have some pretty exotic names:
    Jaleesa
    (pronounced as dja-lie-sa)
    Jahliyah
    Jaydah
    Jamara
    Eleeyah
I think these are also really beautiful names
    Greetings
