With the pill, is it always the same day for your period?

Hi.

I've been on the pill for years. I take my last pill on Saturdays and usually get my period on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Last month I did get my period, but it was different from usual. On Thursday I had a little bit of bloody discharge with mucus. Then nothing, and on Friday I started my period, which lasted until Monday morning. It was much shorter than usual and I could barely use a tampon because I was too dry. I took a urine test a couple of weeks later and it wasn't pregnant.

About two weeks ago, I had orange/red blood in my discharge internally. That was around the time of my ovulation. I went to the doctor last week with these complaints. They did a blood test and urine test, both came back clear, and I also had an internal exam, which was all fine.

Now I took my last pill on Saturday and still haven't gotten my period. I do have itching in my breasts and belly, and sometimes I feel like I should be getting my period. I can suddenly go to the toilet easily, which is unusual for me since I usually have constipation. Today I have a bad headache.

Is it normal that you always get your period on the same day as usual when you're on the pill? Or can this vary?

It doesn't always have to go exactly the same way with the pill; you're manipulating nature, right? You haven't changed it.

The only thing you can do is wait a week. If you still haven't gotten your period, take another test. If it's negative, maybe just visit your GP anyway—they can request a blood test.

I’m assuming I’ll just get my period since I’ve been taking the pill correctly and haven’t had any diarrhea or anything. Just a few little twinges in my side and around my belly button.

I read on a site that because you take the pill, you always get bleeding when you're supposed to have your period, even if you're pregnant. Is that true?

I haven’t had that.. I got pregnant twice while on the pill but both times I didn’t get my period during the break week.. What you might get is implantation bleeding and that can sometimes be mistaken for a period

Pregnant despite the pill? That sounds like a shock. Did you always swallow it properly?

I still haven't had my period. Last night I felt a bit nauseous and had a pulling sensation in my stomach. Maybe I'll just get my period on Friday again, like last month.

Unplanned pregnancy always gives you a little scare at first... but I was on the pill, so it seems I have a faster metabolism than most, which means not enough of the active ingredients are absorbed. After giving birth, I got an IUD, and that worked perfectly.

For me, the bleeding has stopped again. I only lost a tiny bit of orange/brown blood. I can't use a tampon because my vagina is completely dry.
It feels weird; there's a dull ache down in my lower abdomen and around my navel. In the afternoon, I had a few sharp stabs on the left side, but that might also be because I had spotting.

I didn't lose much blood today either. The blood is brown/orange and a bit red. I assume this is my period. I do have cramps in my right groin. I think it's from exercising.

Now I'm also having trouble with my left groin.

    Hi,

I always use tampons, but I can't use one right now because the opening is swollen and dry. Has anyone experienced this before?

Lost a lot of blood today. Is it still worth taking a test? And when could I take it?

    Not a single person?

You don't need to take a test anymore.

Okay, thank you! I lost quite a bit of blood on Sunday, and it stopped since yesterday.
