A question, ladies: my husband complains that he doesn't want me to give my child the same name as my sister. He says our baby doesn't deserve that, then she'll have no unique personality. What do you think? Is there something to it, or is he exaggerating?

I want to give my baby the same name as my sister. My husband keeps complaining and says she doesn't deserve it. She deserves a new name, a new identity, and not her sister's name. Then people will immediately think of your sister when they hear her name. She doesn't have her own personality then. What do you guys think? Is it exaggerated or is there some truth to it? What would you do? Greetings, Rian

Naming after someone else is quite common. I’m not a big fan of it myself, but that’s just my opinion.
But there are people who only want Dutch names, or on the other hand, completely avoid them.

Can't you use her name as a middle name? Then you get your way and can also give your baby a name of your own.
