Ladies, I want to name my child Julia, but my husband says that name is too common and therefore not special enough. What do you think? Is it a beautiful name or too well-known?

Ladies, I want to name my child Julia, but my husband says that name is so common and well-known that it's not special enough. I still think it's a beautiful name, but he's made me a bit doubtful. What do you all think? Is it a nice name for your daughter, or is it too common and overused that I should better choose another name?

Hi Elza, yes, this name is very well-known, but it's beautiful. You should really discuss together whether you want a well-known name or not, or give it a twist to make the familiar name a bit different, so it becomes unique. What's important to you and what kind of name do you want to give your child? You can think about that and then make a list of names you both find beautiful.

For example, you could change Julia to Julie or Mulia.

hi sweetheart, thank you! that's a good idea to check it out and talk with my husband about whether we want a common name or not. i think he likes names that aren't too common. i personally think julia is just so beautiful to give to my daughter, and i haven't really thought about how common it is and that it might not be that special because of that. i should definitely talk to him about it. and what a good idea to play around with the name so it becomes something else. thank you so much for your ideas, love elza

I'm glad I could help you. Will you let me know which one it ends up being?

How many weeks do you still have left?

    Love, sweetheart

Hi sweetheart, I'm due on December 7th, so it's getting close. I'll definitely let you know what name it's going to be. My husband mentioned he'd prefer a unique name that you don't...

that you don't hear often. I'll try to persuade him for the name Julia, and if not, we'll go with a name that sounds similar, like Julie as you suggested. Let's see what he thinks. Love, Elza
