Hi everyone,

If conception has occurred, how soon do you get symptoms?
Greetings

Usually a week or two later... at least for me

Hi Sharon, I clearly felt my implantation. When I was about 2 days late, I felt a really sharp stab. You could compare it to period pain. The stab lasted a short while—not very long, but long enough to cause severe pain. Because it suddenly stopped, I intuitively felt that it was implantation pain. The painful stab went from my side to my lower belly. The next day, I took a pregnancy test, and it was clearly positive.

Sorry, I don't want to be annoying.. but your implantation can't happen after your missed period (after the day you were supposed to get your period).. implantation happens about 6 to 10 days after your ovulation.. if the egg hasn't implanted within 10 days, it just sheds as a period.. You might have been 'fertilized' a few times already while trying to conceive, but without implantation, there's no pregnancy..

What you experienced after being overdue probably didn't even have anything to do with your pregnancy.. your uterus hasn't grown yet and the egg is still dividing..

Most people don't have real symptoms in the first 6 to 7 weeks; you only get a blood connection with your baby after 6 to 7 weeks, then the umbilical cord is formed and connected to you. The baby is still getting its nutrition from the yolk sac, which disappears once the placenta is fully developed..

You can feel nauseous already, that's due to the HCG hormone.. the more you have of it, the more nauseous you might feel (but that's not a must!)

You can 'feel' your implantation, but not more than 10 days after ovulation.. and it feels different for everyone..

That's your truth or your vision on this, but just for clarity: you claim you couldn't feel anything until you were already overdue. I definitely noticed I was pregnant with my second daughter very early on—namely, 2 days before I was overdue. I got extreme hunger; every time I ate, ten minutes later it felt like I was empty and hadn't eaten anything at all. I also got slightly nauseous each time and recognized it from my first pregnancy. I also found it special that my girl wanted to be there so early. I took a Predictor pregnancy test because I thought, I'm feeling so much that seems like pregnancy: the extreme hunger, the slight nausea during the hunger, always feeling empty and like I hadn't eaten anything. I was only 1 day overdue then, but it showed negative. How could that be? I thought, I clearly felt all those symptoms. Then, 1 day later—so on the 2nd day overdue—I took another test, this time not a Predictor but a pharmacy pregnancy test from the chemist. And immediately, unmistakably, two thick dark red lines. I was pregnant, and I had known earlier. Greetings, Felicia

Maybe you learned it that way or from books, but every body is different and so is every baby. I experienced it myself, and it turned out I was pregnant.
  6. felicia Guest #7

what I mean is I've experienced it myself, so you don't talk in terms of "that can't happen" or similar statements.

What you're saying about the pain not being from implantation because the egg was still dividing doesn't make sense. How do you explain that I tested positive the next day? A pregnancy test only shows positive if implantation has occurred, because that's when hCG is produced and becomes measurable. So the pain the day before must have been implantation. The proof is the positive test the next day. By the way, this is about my first pregnancy.

Felicia. You're absolutely right, girl.... Everything that's not possible for other women is possible for you, luckily.. Well, then we've run out of things to say here..

    I'm now 1 week overdue...
Yesterday I took a test and it was negative...
    Can I still be pregnant?
  10. Anonymous Guest #11

Sure! If you really want to know, just pop by the GP, and they’ll draw some blood... but I’d test again in 2 days if I were you. Have you been off the pill for a while? And is your cycle regular?
  11. sharon started this #12

Anonymous: Before I started the pill, I always had regular periods. I've been off it for 3 months now... I used to have a 30-day cycle. Could it be that I now have a longer cycle?
I'm very hungry, have pimples, and a lot of discharge...
  12. Anonymous Guest #13

Oh.. and Linda, don't let them get to you! Your explanation is spot on!

Sharon, about 14 days after your ovulation, your period should start.. if it doesn't, you might have symptoms, but you don't have to.. not everyone does.. you CANNOT feel implantation AFTER your missed period.. you can feel it 6 to 10 days after ovulation.. for some it feels like period cramps, for others like sharp stabs in the belly.. sometimes you spot a little blood, but that's not a must either.. (I had no issues at all) if you're pregnant, you can feel nauseous early on, your breasts might feel a bit tender or you might feel bloated.. it can be anything, really, it's different for everyone.. I really didn't have any issues, felt nothing, wasn't nauseous, didn't have more or less hunger.. I was just myself.. and happily so for all 40 weeks and 3 days... So you can have symptoms, but even if you don't, you can still be pregnant! Good luck!

It's possible you have a longer cycle, but it's incredibly unlikely for me... I'd really test again in 2 days.. Do you live in the Netherlands? The Kruidvat tests (2 for 7 euros) are very sensitive! Clearblue said 'not pregnant' and that test was clearly positive.. on the same day...

    Thanks for the info!

hi anon, what do you mean by "don't let them get to you"? so you must have studied to become a doctor, right? if not, you must have missed out on your career. you seem to know exactly what you're talking about. why didn't you continue studying to become a doctor? how can you say that what i'm saying is nonsense? and by the way, i'm not sure if you read it properly, but besides the topic of this thread, i also mentioned that linda said you can't have symptoms that early—you only feel them later. well, that's not true. as you could read, i clearly had signs early on, before i was overdue, that i was pregnant.
  16. felicia Guest #17

And how do you come to the conclusion that she let herself be talked into something? She just ended the discussion nicely, right?
  17. Anonymous Guest #18

    You're welcome, Sharon! Good luck!
  18. melvina Guest #19

I'm not overdue yet, but I'm already feeling quite hungry, a bit nauseous in the morning (coughing and gagging), and I have strange sensations in my belly. There's white discharge with weird little things (gingerbread with meat salad), but no tender breasts. I feel like I'm pregnant, but the test is negative. I should get my period in a few days.
  19. madelene #20

I also felt my implantation. I don't remember the exact day anymore, but I clearly felt it. I think it was about 1 week before I tested with my oldest. I had that then.
    It was a beautiful experience.
    Greetings, Madelene
