    I had a question.
I wanted to stop working at 36 weeks, but it's become so heavy over the past 2 weeks. I keep thinking I just have to get through it, but no, every week it gets harder and I don't sleep through the night anymore, and it's really breaking me down. I want to stop at 34 weeks now. Can I still report this? I'd like to let them know tomorrow that I'm going to stop earlier after all.

I had already indicated that I wanted to stop at 36 weeks, but that they should keep in mind it could be earlier. (At that time, it was because I had high blood pressure twice, but that's completely fine now) so I've pretty much indicated what I'm thinking. What do you guys think, can this be made difficult?
Or would you wait until I've been to the midwife (I have to go again on March 6th)?

Maybe also useful to know... I work 40 hours.

    Hi Pris,

Of course that's possible! Your employer should also take into account that you might be out earlier!!!
    Love, Kim

P.S. I was forced to go on leave at 32 weeks due to complications, and honestly, I should have chosen to do it for myself much earlier! I'm already back in my first week of work now.
But I still have pelvic pain, so ladies, please pay extra attention to yourselves. You might still have issues after your pregnancy!

    Thanks for your reply.

It was indeed no problem, luckily! And I can choose to postpone it week by week if I want to, so I have all the choices. But for now, it looks like I'll just stop 6 weeks early

Oh my, that's really annoying indeed... Did that happen because you did too much / are still doing too much?

Of course! Pregnancy is well protected under the Arbowet (Working Conditions Act)... They just have to listen to you! I also stopped at 30 weeks because I had too many hard contractions in an hour.
It's even so that your employer doesn't have any costs if you work less or stop before 34 weeks. Everything is passed on to the UWV... The only downside is that if you end up in unemployment benefits within 2 years, your benefits will be reduced....
The UWV pays your salary during the sickness benefit due to pregnancy...

I still have to work for 5 weeks if I make it,
but the care work is starting to get pretty heavy.
But you'll always have to lift things...

I'm really struggling with heartburn and feel so bloated. Only 24 weeks left.
We'll see how long I can keep going; back to work next week.

I was sent home from my own workplace at 4 months pregnant in December, so it was pretty boring being at home for so long. But financially it was very advantageous because it came from my employer, and I didn't lose any of my salary

Better news: I'm taking April 7th off and then going on leave. I still have enough vacation hours left.
Just 3 more weeks to go, and then I'll have worked until the 31.5 half-week in care.
So hang in there a bit longer and take it easy.

Today my maternity leave has started, lovely!!!!

I'm 23 weeks now and my maternity leave starts 4 weeks early. Luckily, I have a lot of vacation days left, so I'll stop 2 weeks earlier, but I'll still have a solid 12 weeks after. Maybe even longer, since I have a temp contract that ends when my leave starts. That's a bit of a bummer. I work 32 hours irregularly and I find it manageable.

I work 38 hours per week and have an irregular schedule. I kept this up until week 31. From week 32 onwards, I started working regularly again; but the same number of hours. After that, I got monitored by VK and I had a low iron level in my blood. In combination with a lot of hard contractions, it was decided that I would reduce my hours to 50% from week 33 onwards. So, working 4 hours every day, from 7:30 to 11:30. And that's manageable! I'll go on leave at 35 weeks. So the last 2 weeks will be 50%. Officially, I go on leave at 36 weeks, but I took a week of vacation before that.

Even after my 12 weeks of maternity leave, I took an additional 6/7 weeks of vacation, so in total, I'll be home for about 5 months after giving birth with the same salary! Nice prospect
