thyroid and getting pregnant

Hi there,

I was wondering if there are any ladies here who have thyroid problems and find it harder to get pregnant because of it. I myself have a slow thyroid and antibodies. I stopped the pill in October 2012. We've been trying to get pregnant for 8 months now. Unfortunately, I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks in the second cycle. I feel like my thyroid keeps starting to break down my pregnancy.

Love, Aafke

Hi! After 3 miscarriages around 12 weeks, they did extra tests and the only negative thing was my thyroid hormone, which was a bit too high and contributes to miscarriages! I'm now taking Elthyrone daily and already 25 weeks pregnant. My oldest son is five years old and never had any problems with him, then those 3 miscarriages happened! So don't lose hope! Greetings

    Hi Anne,
Congratulations on your pregnancy. That’s really tough that you had 3 MKs because of your thyroid! That’s no joke! Were antibodies also found in your case?

    Hi
Thanks, a few more weeks to go, hee hee

They’re not 100% sure that it was due to my thyroid that I had those 3 miscarriages, but otherwise no abnormalities were found so.... and now with those pills it’s working out fine...
I already had a good pregnancy before my miscarriages. I think it was that pregnancy that gave me thyroid problems... After this pregnancy they’re going to investigate my thyroid function more because I was already pregnant when the medication started and my blood levels were on track so we left it like that to avoid risks, they don’t know more how or what, wait and see later and then go to a specialist once everything’s behind us!

And with you? Is it working out, girl?
    Greetings

I have to get my thyroid hormone levels tested every two months via a blood draw, and the value must not exceed a certain limit. Before, mine was way too high.

I’ve got a goiter, so an enlarged thyroid. A few years ago, they ran all the tests and found nothing abnormal. I stopped the pill on January 1st, and I’m hoping that’s still true that there’s nothing else wrong with my thyroid. You do hear regularly that it can make it harder to get pregnant.
