Noah or Noan??

Bloempie
We're debating between these 2 names.
Noan is nice and original, but I can't get the pronunciation "no-one" out of my head. That's why we have option number 2, Noah..
But this name is absolutely not original and is also often used for girls.
Who wants to think out loud with us?
I still prefer Noan.. Do you think this is a nice name or will he get bullied because of it?
Help!

    Hi Bloempie,

I think both names are really beautiful! You're right that Noah is more common than Noan, but if you're leaning towards Noan, there's really nothing wrong with Noah either. I'll be honest—if I had another son, I'd try to convince my husband again to go with Noah. He didn't want it for our first son!

And as for Noan, I don't think it's a funny name, and I don't think he'd be teased because of it!

    Good luck with your search!

I'd go for Noan! It sounds more like a unique, nice name to me too!

    Lots of luck with it

P.S.: I'm also debating over a name! What do you all think:

    - Emma
    - Myla (pronounced as Maila)
    - Miley ?

    (Pffft!)

Thanks in advance for your opinions!

Yes indeed, Saskia, Noan is more unique..
As for your first names, I would go for Myla and Miley, I think Myla is more beautiful.
I have a friend who is called Maëla, almost the same as Myla, and it means Princess
    Maybe an idea for you?

    Greetings

    Hey N. Coppola!

Thanks for your opinion & idea! I think Myla is also more unique than Emma. But I sometimes worry that people will pronounce Myla as: Mila instead of Maila, you know?

    Greetings

why don't you change the spelling then? Maïla would then be pronounced like Myla. It's indeed written in English, which means Dutch or Flemish speakers might pronounce it incorrectly.
But yeah, there will probably also be people who mispronounce it even if you write it like this = Maïla (pronouncing the ï incorrectly).
Or just write it your way and explain to teachers etc. how it's actually pronounced!

    Good luck!

Mm, you've got a point there!
And Maïla is also a beautiful spelling! Super, thanks!

I think Noan is also nicer and more original than Noah.
And I wouldn't care at all about how others pronounce it; you can easily correct them!
I know someone named Nuan (Nuwan), I like that too!
    Good luck with choosing x

    @ Saskia

Glad I could help you out a bit.
What do you think of Maëla? As I already wrote, a friend of mine has that name and it means princess, and you hardly ever hear it! She's of Italian descent...
    If you like southern names

    Greetings

    @ N.Coppola

Sounds pretty good too! Do you pronounce it as 'Maajla' or?

    Cheers!

At the "dotting the i" stage, it sounds like you'd pronounce it as Maa iela. But the spelling is really beautiful. Manuela could work too, but then it's quite a long name...

Noah is really beautiful, and Noan as well. Noach or Boaz also sound similar. I think the "oa" combination is lovely anyway!

Hopefully, you'll figure it out together!
  11. N. Coppola #12

well, i don't know how "you" pronounce it when you write it like 'Maajla'
it's more like Mayla, that's how you pronounce the name of my friend
  12. N. Coppola #13

@ heart with dots on the i, for Maëla you don't pronounce the I because there's no I in her name, you pronounce the e, it's written like that for her but we pronounce it Mayla
  13. S #14

Of girls, what do you think of Mila? Isn't it lovely too?
  14. N. Coppola #15

    Mila is also beautiful
How far along are you in your pregnancy anyway?
    Greetings
  15. S #16

Almost 6 months! So I still have plenty of time to come up with a name! My first thought was Emma but I've been thinking about Mila lately & don't know why!

I'd rather go for a more original name than one you hear too often in life

    Hmm difficult!

    Greetings!
  16. N. Coppola #17

Yes, I’d go with Mila, but it’s your choice, of course!
And like you said, Emma is heard too much these days.
6 months, for me that was personally the most beautiful moment
    Enjoy it!

    Wishing you a lovely pregnancy.

    Bye!

    Hi there, little flower!
No, I don’t think you’ll get teased if you name your child Noan... even though it’s not a very common name, it’s not weird or strange either! It’s quite nice!

Personally, I think Noah is a really lovely name, it’s on my list hehe

    Good luck with choosing,

Hihi, you're so right! 90% chance it'll be Mila (I think)
AUh! Thank you I'll definitely do it!

    Lots of love! Take care
