It’s always good to think of others. I don’t give to charities myself because most of the money doesn’t end up where it’s supposed to. Recently, someone from a charity came to my door. I told them the same thing, but they came back with the nice story that 80% goes to the cause. They also showed what the director earned—5,500 euros a month. She even admitted that she and her team got paid to go door-to-door. Just imagine how much money needs to be collected each month just to pay the people doing the rounds...
It’s true though—if there’s a product collection drive at a supermarket for poor countries or animal shelters, I always take something along.
Maybe you could help someone in your own area? There are also many people in your own country who could really use some help.
It's completely understandable that you'd like to support a good cause. I myself became a young, unplanned mother. My husband and I were both still studying. Your life really gets turned upside down. Fortunately, we received a lot of help to gather all the necessary baby supplies. Now we have two more kids and had a lot of usable baby items left over. We wanted to do something good with them. That's how the Stichting Babyspullen foundation was founded. We help the babies of low-income parents with basic necessities. We collect baby supplies nationwide and make free baby starter kits. The kits can be requested through assisting organizations such as the food bank, clothing bank, Youth Protection Bureau, midwives, and maternity care.
You can help one or more babies by donating the cost of a baby starter kit, and of course, usable baby supplies are always welcome :-) #minima #goodcause
I'm looking forward to your response. Feel free to contact us via the site.
I'm totally on board with @stichtingbabyspullen!
It's amazing that you collect useful baby items and distribute them to parents in the Netherlands who really need them!! Once we have extra stuff or get duplicates later on, I'll definitely think of you.
Is there actually such an organization in Belgium too? I find it quite interesting for a few years down the line. Currently, we don't have any baby stuff since it's our first little one.
