Hi everyone, who else is expecting a girl in January or early February? I think it'd be nice to swap experiences and just chat cozily! We found out yesterday that it's a girl and we're sooooo happy!!! The most important thing is of course the health.. yesterday everything looked good, we saw the 10 fingers and toes and a nice beating heart.. what was also nice was seeing our girl drinking amniotic fluid.. her whole mouth was moving back and forth and we could see her tongue, really cool!! We went for a preliminary scan and the person who did it also does 20-week scans, which feels quite reassuring.. but she only looked at the physical aspects due to the preliminary scan.. We have the 20-week scan on September 17th, so exciting. Can't wait to hear from you all! X

We're expecting our second little guy here in early October and we're super happy about it. He was recently sucking on his fingers while looking at the 30-week ultrasound of the baby... so proud of my almost three boys

Ahh that's so sweet!! You're already getting excited for you, huh..! Exciting. How are you feeling? X

    Hi Eline,

We're expecting a girl too, due on February 11th. :-) At 14 weeks we had a prenatal scan and she could immediately see it was a girl... super, right! I really wanted a girl, but I was convinced we'd have a boy. So I was super happy when we heard it was a little girl! :-)

That's great... I'm surprised myself at all the things I'm still doing and managing. Since yesterday I've been on maternity leave, and in a few weeks we're moving to our new house.
Of course, it's getting a bit heavier, but it's really not too bad. And you?

Whatever it is, both are lovely.
I secretly wanted a girl and my husband wanted a boy, hehe.
We have a boy who's almost 3.5 months old and I'm so happy with such a beautiful child. Parenting is something I could never miss out on, like it's always been this way (L).
And yes, a second child is definitely coming, that's our wish in about a year or so.

    Hi Eline,

We're also expecting a girl around that time. My due date is February 4th, but she could certainly come earlier. During the scan everything looked great, and we even saw her taking a big sip. Funny to see how big their mouths are already in the belly hahaha.

    Hey Miss Butterfly,

Oh my, it's so annoying that everyone's making such a big drama out of the name. Don't let it get to you. Just enjoy your pregnancy and, in the end, the most important thing is that your baby will be happy. Fortunately, you get to decide how you raise your child, and you don't really need others' input for that. I wish you all the best anyway.

ladies, this has nothing to do with your story at all. first of all, congratulations! but i just want to say, just to be sure, if any of you smoke and you're happy to see your baby drinking your amniotic fluid, don't forget that when you smoke, your baby is also drinking tar, nicotine, and other nasty carcinogenic substances.
  9. myrte Guest #10

Isn't your amniotic fluid not so nice, I mean? And super scary for your baby, of course. So it's good that you know. For moms who smoke, your baby is already drinking those carcinogenic substances from your drinks, and I want to help all smoking moms remember what kind of early damage this can cause.
  10. myrte Guest #11

you're already passing on lung and heart damage to your kids now, which often only shows up later in life, like cancer at age 30. That greatly increases their risk if you keep smoking in the womb. And don't forget, as your baby grows, they literally take up space in your belly. It feels to the baby like they're breathing through a straw. Isn't that awful? And you're giving them a bad start before they're even born. What kind of mother wants that on her conscience? Oh yeah, and to smoking moms: I personally think that if you're mature enough to decide to start a family, please be mature enough to protect your child from carcinogens. Seriously think about what you're doing to your unborn child. Sorry, but I just had to say this. As a doctor, I see more and more children with serious illnesses because their mothers were too lazy to quit smoking. Greetings, Myrte

I wanted to add that mothers feel guilty about this. I think to myself, if you felt this during your pregnancy, your baby will also feel it. You know how many crying babies just cry because they've been exposed to cigarettes in the womb?
  12. myrte Guest #13

There are babies in the womb with a smoking mother. It's heart-wrenching to see how little space they have left. The mother is puffing away, and the baby can't move anywhere, feeling increasingly suffocated and curling up in pain and discomfort. It's never too late to quit. Don't think that it's useless now. I'm already 7 or 8 weeks along. It's always useful as long as your baby is still in your womb. As soon as you quit, your baby in the womb will notice that they can breathe again, and the suffocation will decrease. Big hugs, Myrte.

Hi Myrthe, thank you so much for these wise words! I can imagine how heartbreaking it must be to see that. And indeed, also for the baby. Fortunately, I've never smoked; I find it so nasty and above all bad. But a colleague/old friend of my girlfriend has been trying to get pregnant for almost 2 years and is also going to the hospital... Both of them smoke a whole pack a day... I think you shouldn't stop with that first and see how it goes then... Well, who am I... I don't judge... First, let's see how I'm going to do it. X

Hi Inemien, oh that's super nice!! My due date is January 31st but I secretly expect it to be a bit later.. My gut says so but of course you can't know for sure
  15. Eline #16

Predicting. So who knows, it might be the same day for us haha. How are you feeling? x
  16. Eline #17

Myrthe, I mean 1 packet of p.p per day. Brrr. x
  17. Mama83 #18

What I heard at an info session is that the first baby usually comes about 4 days later than the due date. So just wait a bit more, hihi (almost two months to go). Everything is going well here, luckily . Hope the same for you .
  18. Eline #19

Haha that would be funny then she'd arrive exactly on your due date Yeah, let's wait and see, sometimes it feels like it's going super slow and then suddenly it speeds up! Glad everything is going well, it's going well here too but I'm dealing with pelvic pain.. But otherwise no complaints at all, so can't complain. And we're getting something incredibly beautiful in return for it . x
