@Kristel,

People are indeed very cheeky.
Just stay true to yourself.
I definitely have experience with this and I also find it ridiculous how people react...
Nice that you're pregnant again, congratulations....

    Hi Kristel,

    Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your pregnancy!! At my first 22-week scan, the first question people asked (especially at work, where the average age for having a child was 38) was, was it planned? How cheeky! I wouldn't ask someone over 35 who's pregnant, "IVF, right?"

    Don't let it get to you and enjoy your pregnancy! There are so many benefits to being a young mom, not just for yourself but especially for your little ones.

    Hey Kristel, congratulations on your second pregnancy!
    I'll be 21 when I become a mom, but indeed, people do sometimes ask if it was planned. And when we say yes, they're like 'oh really? oh okay! nice!'. Whereas with someone who's 30, no one ever asks, they just immediately react with 'oh how nice, congratulations!!!!'. I also notice that strangers often don't congratulate me when I tell them I'm pregnant, and they just look at my belly... I can hear them thinking: 'oh, probably not planned', 'maybe an accident', 'poor girl'... while with older people they immediately react enthusiastically and happily... Really annoying, but nothing you can do about it!

    Hi Kristel,

    Congratulations!!
    How far along are you now?
    It is indeed very bold!! Sometimes I really wonder where some people get the nerve to have such judgments ready-made.
    We hear it all the time too! Our baby is now 7 months old and I'm 22 myself..
    Even my mother-in-law said to us, 'you would have waited a while longer otherwise, well it's good that my partner spoke up right away, but that really hurt me when she said that. Well anyway people always judge others, I think now they think 'nice and easy but a long way off!' Our boy was very much planned and welcome!!

    Have a nice pregnancy!

    Love

    Enjoy it..let everyone chatter. I'm jealous! Haha..Young moms get me when you choose to do it so consciously! Very beautiful! I'm 27 now and will start trying to get pregnant soon. Didn't have time before due to studies. .. Good luck!

    Are you 10 years old?
  7. hartje #8

    @Sile2013 I assume she means 10 weeks and 2 days

    First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy!
    I’ve had the same experience here, no weird reactions from close friends.
    But now I’m getting really annoying looks when I go out with my son.
    You can see them thinking 'oh god, so young' while I’m already 23 (and my husband is 29 by now).
    I’ll only be 40 when my son turns 18. Then I’ll still have a whole life ahead of me

    Brutal, but recognizable.
    I'm no longer a young mom, but rather an older one.
    I'm 38 and last November my husband and I had our third child. Our eldest daughter and our son were almost 11 and 8 at the time, and we often got the question if Vera was planned. When they hear that she was planned, they're quite surprised.
    Well, we had already taken that into account beforehand, so it doesn't bother us, but indeed............ it's pretty bold.

    @Gerda,

    Hey hey how are things... I saw that you had replied to this topic.. How are Vera and the other kids doing? Here they are happy that school has started again and I'm very happy...
    For a few days now M.. has been sitting better and more steadily so that's nice....
    Going to the cb today......
    How are things with you otherwise?? Well I'll hear from you...

    Kind regards Ju or well MavanMi

    Hey Ju,

    Everything's going great here.
    Maya and Julian went back to school for the first time today. Maya in group 8, Julian in group 5. It's lovely, for both them and for me.

    Be patient with your littlest boy, he's doing fine!
    Veertje is currently flying along. Two months ago she just started rolling over from tummy to back, and in those two months she has learned the following:
    * rolling back from tummy to back
    * crawling
    * sitting
    * and since last week she's standing..............

    She's been in the Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair for a few weeks now, and yesterday I reluctantly put a harness on her because she was about to climb right out.
    My in-laws came by today (they hadn't seen her for a week), and my mother-in-law's jaw dropped. She didn't know what she was seeing.

    See, this shows how fast things can suddenly go.
    I'm curious to see what your boy will be up to in the coming weeks!

    Cheers, Gerda

    I got pregnant young here too, always wanted young kids. I was 19 when I was pregnant with the first, now I'm 21 and my son is 8 months old and I'm pregnant again with the second (almost 8 weeks now). I keep getting the same question, but I don't respond to it anymore. Love, Manon

    @ Ju,

    Every child follows their own path. Isn't it wonderful to see all those differences?
    I'm very happy with Vera's developments lately, but she's still just a little one, you know.
    Vera is about 69-70 cm. She still wears size 68 and a small 74 also fits. Miquel definitely wears size 80 by now??

    Best, and love,

    Gerda

    I'm 21 now and pregnant with our first baby.
    We've indeed gotten quite a few reactions like, "Oh, was that an accident?" And I just say with a big smile on my face, "Nope, it was planned!"

    I've always said I wanted to be a young mom for my kids, and that's exactly what it is now! I wouldn't have wanted it any other way!

    Enjoy it!

    @Gerda,

    Yes, indeed it is so yes, everyone follows their own path and it's nice that we can keep a little eye on that.. Yes, Miquel wears size 80-86 and sometimes bigger, yes he's hard to find clothes for... luckily I have a friend who really has nice clothes and that saves money, we buy some now and then but not too much...

    Love and hugs and lots of love Ju or well MavanMi
