Gus or Guus

I'm looking for a tough, short (one syllable) boy's name. But I'm still a bit unsure... A very common name or maybe something a bit less common. I really want it to be a real name, and when you say it, everyone should be able to understand and spell it, so not too unique/extreme.

I'm not pregnant yet, but we already have several names with just one syllable, which we really like! -

I think Guus is a nicer name... Gus makes me think more of an older man.
