Forum Baby Names

I’d never let others help think/vote on a baby name via a poll. I do like doing a poll to see if my choices are well-received, but I might not do anything with the results. It feels nice to know how others perceive the name.

I'm really curious how others here see this. Personally, I find it quite a lot to let others think along online about a name and to let them express their opinion on it.

I would never let others vote on this; I think it's something for you and your partner!!

    Dbc you're right!

I had the girl's name and my husband had the boy's name.
I do like short and sweet names that aren't too common.

It's a boy and his name is Dean; if it were a girl I wouldn't say anything, who knows

    @Anoniem,

I think everyone should be able to decide that for themselves.
I wouldn't announce a name until after the baby is born.

    Cheers Ju or rather MavanMi

Our parents, siblings, and my best friend know our possible names. We found their reactions important (even though only our opinion really counts, but still). The rest of the world can go straight to hell for all I care :-)

Live and let live. If you feel like it, great. Fun, fine, nice that it works. Just do it.

If you'd rather not, don't do it.

    It's sooooo simple :-)

My husband came up with the name for our second son and thinks it's a really beautiful, unique name that you hardly ever hear About 10 weeks to go If it had been a girl, it would have been Anna-Liza!!

    Let everyone decide for themselves..
    The 1st doesn't value the other..so simple

I feel the same way, everyone's got their own ideas.
But sometimes a name reminds you of something and you think, "Oh no, no way,"
even though it's actually a nice name.
We combined it with Dean (Arnoldus) comes from my grandma who was Arnolda, (Jan) from my husband's grandpa, and (Laurentius) from the church where we got married and where he'll also be baptized.

But we'll just call him Dean, those are the baptismal names.

I agree, everyone for themselves!! And everyone has their own opinion...

You choose the name yourself as parents, but that doesn't mean it's not fun to hear how a name is received. If it doesn't hit the mark, that doesn't mean the name is automatically out of the running...

Nice poll just now, you can get some nice ideas this way.
