home birth or hospital birth

I'm curious whether you'd prefer to give birth at home or in the hospital. I'd really like to have my baby at home, but I'm still a bit unsure. Any experiences are welcome! I'm curious

I’d really like to give birth at home if I had a guarantee that it wouldn’t turn out the same as my previous birth…

But the OB-GYN and midwife don’t have much confidence in it, which is why they’re recommending a medical delivery.

I want to give birth in the hospital. My mom had no issues during her pregnancy at all (not even nausea or anything like that). But when she went into labor at the hospital, they suddenly had to do an episiotomy without anesthesia because otherwise I would have been born severely disabled or dead. I spent 3 days in the incubator afterward. My aunt also had complications during her labor, which is why she can only walk short distances now. There was an issue with her pelvis that was overlooked. My boyfriend was born via emergency C-section. I don't want to take any risks and want to give birth in the hospital.

@moedernatuur: I can totally relate. And when did you two finish?

@sylvia we don't know the exact date yet. We haven't been pregnant for very long. But it'll be end of January / early February

At the hospital, I was really scared something might go wrong.
The hospital gave me a lot of peace of mind.
In the end, I did need some help, so I was glad about my decision.
But choose where you feel comfortable.
It’s good to know though that at that moment, it also feels a bit personal. You’re taken care of really well.

@moedernatuur: okay I was due on July 28th, so only 4 weeks left. @anoniem: that's true. I'm still going to give birth at home because I can do my own thing a bit more there. If something goes wrong, which we don't expect, the hospital is less than 5 minutes away. That gives me a nice feeling too.

I’m going to give birth in the hospital. It just feels the safest to me. Plus, you hear everything from the neighbors, and I wasn’t looking forward to them hearing me too. Then I just don’t feel comfortable.

I can also join RJ there. It's all quite exciting, hihi!
