climbing

My son is 13 and a half months old and climbs everywhere. Last week he even almost tried to climb onto the windowsill, just pulling himself up. He's already almost climbing out of his crib. I basically can't leave him alone for a moment anymore. Is that normal for someone his age?

That's the age when real parenting begins. From 1 year old, they'll start testing boundaries.
What I do with my son (27 months) when he does something he's not supposed to is get down to his level, make eye contact so he sees I mean it, and then warn him.
If he does it again, he has to go to the timeout corner (one minute per year of age). Once he's served his time, I crouch down again and explain why he had to go to the corner.
Then I end with a hug and a kiss, and he's allowed to play again.
