Keet.... nice name?

As the title reveals... I'm totally in love with the name Keet. I find it beautiful, strong, creative but not too pretentious. And tough! I'm pregnant and I don't know yet if it's a girl. For a boy, we have the name Sil. That one is already 'set'. Keet I find wonderful but it's of course a bit 'special'. Please share your opinion! (Even though I've already come up with the less nice nicknames zuipkeet, keet met haar dikke reet and keet scheet myself

Oh yes, we already have a son Joep! And because I haven't pictured it yet, I'm 34 and work as a final editor/director at television. I live with my husband (also a creative person) in a village near the city.

I think Keet is such a lovely name Tough, girly, and easy to pronounce. I'd just write it as Kate though, because I find that a bit more elegant (especially when she's older).

the name isn't my taste.. it immediately reminds me of telekids.. i would write it as Kate though, i think it suits Joep better..

I'd spell it as Kate then. I personally think it looks a bit more polished when she's older.

If you live in Twente, it's not really a handy name. Nice, but I'd indeed make Kate out of it..

Just write it as Keet!! It's cooler than Kate..

I don't want to sound rude, but Sil for a boy sounds too much like "sale" (on sale). You wouldn't write it that way, but it's pronounced the same way: sale and Sil. But it's your choice, of course. And regarding Keet, I think Katie sounds nicer when pronounced as "Katie."

I think Sil is such a cool name and it definitely doesn't remind me of the clearance section at all, really nice. I wouldn't choose Keet myself, but it definitely fits with your son's name. Good luck!

I don't think Sil is suitable at all for a boy. It looks way too much like an abbreviation of the girl's name Silvia, which is also often shortened to Sil. So it's never clear whether it's a boy or not. Sorry to the mothers who have named their son this way; I don't want to offend or hurt anyone, but this is just my personal opinion. If you like short, tough boy names, what do you think of, for example, the name Josh for a boy?

And as for the name Keet, I think Ketie is prettier for a girl.

I don't know if you followed the soap "As the World Turns," but I did, and there was a woman in it named Ketie. I thought she was a nice girl and a nice name.

A bit of a late reply, but I'm really curious what names you've chosen! I'm in exactly the same situation right now, 34 weeks pregnant, with a son Joep (and a daughter Saar), and now I've girl names like Keet on my mind! I'm really struggling to decide!
