Baby 3 weeks old

Hey ladies, here's a question: how are the nights with your little one? He's often wide awake in the evening. The last feed is around 11 PM and it takes a while for him to fall asleep. Then he wakes up again around 3-4 AM and again around 7 AM. But my question is, sometimes he wakes up twice during the night. I check if he needs a clean diaper, sometimes soothing him or walking around helps too, or maybe it's gas pains. Is he not getting enough from that last feed?? He should actually be having 7 feeds per day.

    Hi Irma,

    Our little guy had that too during the first few weeks; they don't have a clue about day and night rhythm yet. It'll sort itself out.

    If he's doing well otherwise, I really won't worry. You hear everyone talking about how quickly they start sleeping through the night, which is nice, but I think it's more than normal that they don't sleep through right away.

    Hope this helps you a bit.

    I don't mind standing either, but I was wondering if he might not be getting enough from that last bottle? We're totally enjoying our little man! Sleeping comes naturally now, and even a little rest in the afternoon feels like a relief compared to the last weeks of pregnancy, hehe. P.S. I've almost forgotten about being pregnant, isn't that wild?

    If he needs food, just give it to him.
    Babies are just like grown-up people; some days they eat more than others.
    It'll definitely be noticeable with growth spurts.

    Yay, our little boy of 6 months finally started sleeping through the night after 3 months... I was expecting the second one in October, so we'll just have to wait and see when he starts sleeping through too, hehe xxx

    @Irma,

    My son didn't sleep through the night until he was 5 months old, so he's now 6 months, 2 weeks, and 5 days old. So the standard guidelines don't really apply here. If your little one needs more food, you can just give it to him. Otherwise, maybe check with the CB (Child Care and Family Planning Service).

    Hang in there. It's indeed a waiting game when your baby will start sleeping through the night. My son, who is now 12, slept through the night right away. And my other son, who is 17, did the same. So every baby is different.

    Best, Ju

    As a mom, I was just a little worried
    Last night it was 11 PM, the last time I was awake to play and then she got fussy and cried until 1 AM for a bottle, and then slept from half past 2 until 7 AM. That's pretty good.

    Every baby sleeps through the night at their own pace. My son only started sleeping through when we switched to bottle feeding and made the bottles heavier. He was 10 months old when he stopped breastfeeding and about 11 months old when we started making the last bottle heavier.
