A girl or a boy??

Hi Eline!
I'm not pregnant yet but I really want to be..! We've been trying for 7 months now.

I always thought (before we started) that I'd be a boy-mom. So I'd only have those little mischievous boys, that's what I dreamed of, lovely! But now that we're really trying, I'm also thinking a lot about girls. When I walk through Hema or Zeeman or something like that, I fall completely in love with the little pink dresses and cute blouses.
When I'm pregnant, I think it won't matter to me at all, as you already say; as long as it's healthy!!!

Do you have a preference?

We didn't have a preference either. We already have a boy and are happily getting another little one!! Completely healthy.
We found out last week during the 20-week ultrasound....
We're absolutely HAPPY about it hihi

Hi Crumb. I had it exactly the other way around; I always dreamed of having a girl. Definitely fun to look at little dresses, do hairdos, and shop.. But now that I'm pregnant, I look at boys' clothes a lot and I can also see myself as the mother of a mischievous boy. I have no preference, both are incredibly nice. And if you can get pregnant and it's healthy too, you already have so many reasons to be grateful. Congratulations to DCB from the heart!! Nice, 2 boys.. And completely healthy SUPER nice!! Xx

Lovely Eline! Congratulations on your pregnancy. How far along are you? And do you want to know what it is?
I don't have a preference either, but I'm being drawn to lots of pink at the moment

Thanks!! I'm 6 weeks now. It's super exciting though. June 24th is the first ultrasound. Yeah, I'd really like to know.. It's also just so easy with the birth announcements and the baby clothes. I hope you get pregnant soon too!!! And yeah, pink dresses and stuff are super cute..!!!! Do you think you'd want to know when the time comes? xx

DCB, have you ever had (or do you have) sharp pains in your side? I've been having them since this week..?? X

Aah how lovely, girl! Is it your first baby? And are you having a lot of "discomfort" besides those side stitches?

Yes, we'd really love to know what it'll be! Definitely easier with the cards, bedroom, and stuff..
We're going to the gynecologist on June 19th for the first check-up, since I don't get my period so no cycle. Hope it won't take too long after that, pff! My patience is wearing thin..

Hi there, yes this is our first baby. Hope everything goes well, after the first ultrasound I'm a bit calmer than before, you know what I mean.. Besides the stabbing pains I'm a bit nauseous, but not too bad though. So I feel pretty good.

Oh wow that's really tough! That sucks for you. I'm thinking of you.. Keep me posted. And I understand your patience is running out, hope it works out quickly after that time, I really wish that for you. The OB-GYN will surely help you out. xx Eline

Exciting, girl! I can understand that you feel more reassured after the ultrasound. You'll enjoy it so much when you get that ultrasound!!!! Nice one.
I really want to experience it too! Have you been busy for a long time?
How sweet! I'll keep you updated I'm quite nervous about that appointment. Curious what they'll find or not, and that I'll have to muddle through for a while longer..

Hey girls, yeah I get that you want it too and that you're nervous. I hope a miracle happens for you soon!! Well, on the one hand you hope they don't find anything, but on the other hand you kind of do (something small that's easily fixable) because then they can help you specifically.. I'm rooting for you. We've been trying for 4 months.. This was quick and I realize that's not a given, and I'm so incredibly grateful. It's nice/good talking to you like this and I'd definitely like to keep doing that, how about you? May I ask how old you are? X

Yes, that's indeed fast and super nice for you guys! Enjoy it, I hope your pregnancy goes just as smoothly as the time you've been trying for this little one! What a blessing!
I thought it would go faster for us too. I was 20 when we started, now I'm 21 and how old are you?
Yes, I also find it very nice chatting with you, we should definitely keep doing that!!
I'm still on the 'trying to conceive' forum a lot but hope to join in on the 'pregnant' forum soon too, hehe.

Thank you!!! Okay, that's a nice age. I'm 24 and turning 25 on July 4th. Yeah, I get that. You might see more topics here that resonate with you right now. But hopefully, that'll change soon...!! Do you find it hard being on this forum since most people here are already pregnant? I'd totally respect that, seems pretty tough sometimes. But it'll definitely work out. X
  12. Eline #13

That's so sweet of you!! Yeah, I definitely get a bit unsure when you feel even the slightest weird thing, and then you start wondering if it's normal or not... And what will we see on the ultrasound if it's still there and healthy...

Yeah, I think age doesn't matter at all; when you're both ready, you should definitely go for it. And I already knew at 20 that I wanted it... It's just beautiful.

Sorry, I see I haven't answered everything yet. We told mom, dad, sister, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law, and also our best friends. We told them by giving them a cupcake with pink and blue footprints, hearts, and a question mark, and they loved it. We'll tell the rest later after the 3-month mark. My sister is happy for us too, but she doesn't have kids herself and has to get used to being an aunt, and my mom already calls herself proud grandma haha. And my best friend thought I was sick instead of pregnant, she kept saying.. Now we have to be careful with you and take good care of you.. Sweet but she said that's not necessary, I don't like being coddled..! Have you thought about how you'd tell them? And do you ever think about names or not? What's your real name anyway.. Or is that a cheeky question..! Although I think Kruimel is a nice name. Xx

Aaah how lovely! Great idea with the cupcakes!
But nice reactions from your family and friends! And indeed, all that fussing doesn't need to happen! Some people really think they can't do or shouldn't do anything when they're pregnant.. Pff exhausting.

I think we'll just tell them.. I'll go straight to my parents right after a positive test to tell them, and then we'll all cry our eyes out hihihi. They feel so bad for us that it's taking so 'long' and they really empathize with me, so I have a very strong bond with my family. I don't have much contact with my in-laws so that'll be fine .. my sister-in-law is the type who, now that she's pregnant (24 weeks), can't do anything; she can't even carry the laundry basket because "that's really too heavy now, I'm pregnant you know" pfffft really annoying.

Yes, we already have a few names! I've really liked one name forever so I hope that'll be my first. And you guys too?

Haha crumb is my nickname, given by my dad when I was born so I thought it was fitting here.. My real name is Janneke. (hope my sister-in-law isn't on this forum reading this haha!)

We both really want a girl! But a boy is also very welcome, of course!
I've had the feeling from the start that it's going to be a girl, just like other family members. But we don't know for sure yet! In week 16/17 we're planning to do a gender determination at an ultrasound clinic, and we're super curious hihi. By the way, I come from a family with only boys, and in our family there are also way more cousins (male) than female cousins
  16. Eline #17

Hey Charlotje, well then I hope it's a girl for you guys. It's good that a boy is welcome too.. Some people really want a boy or a girl... I wouldn't be able to do that, I'd feel guilty later. Ooh that's exciting, an echo eh.. That you can finally see what it is.. How far along are you now? Okay, more boys than girls so for you guys.. Well then it's time for a girl now, right?! X

Hihi yes, just stick with Kruimel
Yes, I can't wait for the moment to go home and tell them..!

My sister-in-law is a bit much.. she has a super pregnancy, no discomfort anywhere and yet she complains, whines and grumbles.. I got a bit angry at her recently, told her she's not allowed to complain and that I'd rather swap places ; she fertility issues and me pregnant.. Since then she hasn't complained in my presence anymore hihi..
I'm going to the JBZ hospital in Den Bosch.

Currently I don't do much, I have heeeel lots of free time haha: I had an accident 3 weeks ago and tore my kneecap so I'm in a cast from ankle to groin.. for 6 weeks.
I'm bored to death. And what do you do usually?

Did you have those names for a long time already? Quite handy huh hihi

  18. Eline #19

Hi there, good that you said that to your sister-in-law, she should really reflect on it!! Ouch, that's really unpleasant.. Then I understand that you're bored. I'm feeling that too at the moment, because my contract wasn't renewed and I'm home. I used to work for a children's organization. Yeah, we've known the names for a while now, you're fantasizing about them beforehand anyway. X
  19. charlotje #20

Hey @Eline, yes indeed, I wouldn't be able to either.. whether it's a girl or a boy, both are very welcome with us!
I'm now 12 weeks and 5 days pregnant and already had my 4th ultrasound today, and everything was fine. Always nice to have those ultrasounds

You're about 6 weeks pregnant now, I read that above? And your first ultrasound is on June 24th, exciting!!
