Hi ladies, let me introduce myself. I'm Sarah, 21 years old, and I've been trying to get pregnant since early 2013... Well, I ovulated around March 25th/26th. I know this from a scan by my doctor. On Monday, Easter Monday, I had some pink/brown mucus discharge, which continued until Thursday, but it got a bit heavier after Monday. It looked more like old blood, but very little. I could manage with a panty liner. I've also started getting some nice symptoms like mood swings, fatigue, occasional stabbing pains in my groin, and lower back pain. Bah bah, but yes... I should have gotten my period yesterday, but it didn't happen, and it hasn't happened today either. I just took a pregnancy test; NEGATIVE. Has anyone experienced that it takes longer for a pregnancy to show up on a test??? Greetings, Sarah

Did you take the pill and stop recently? Stopping the pill can affect your cycle for months, and the symptoms you feel after stopping often look a lot like pregnancy symptoms.

Also, I've often read that a test can be negative even if you are pregnant, due to low hcg levels. It's usually recommended to do a blood test or wait a bit longer, since hcg doubles every two days!

A friend of mine also tested negative and turned out to be pregnant in the end.

    But everyone is different!
    Hope this helped you!

Thank you so much for your reply! Yes, I really want to get pregnant, but I also understand that it doesn't just happen overnight. I already have a daughter who's almost 4 years old, and I've been wanting another child for 2 years now. We agreed to wait, and now that the time feels right, I can hardly wait... By the way, I don't take the pill and haven't used any other contraception because I've been diagnosed with PCOS.

What test did you use? I got the Kruidvat 2-for-5 euro test. They're supposed to be really sensitive. I tested on NOD and it came up positive. They're cheap and work well. Otherwise, test again in a few days.

If you haven't been on the pill, it's quite possible that you're already pregnant. On the other hand, if you have PCOS, it could also mean that you're not pregnant.

So, wait a bit longer and test again in two days. I've read stories from women who only got a positive test when they were already 6 weeks pregnant. So, if you don't get a positive test within a week and also don't get your period, I'd suggest going to your doctor for a blood test.

    Good luck!

I ordered those online from 123zwangerschapstests.. still negative.. guess I'll just wait and see!!

Hmm, are you sure you ovulated with PCOS? Usually, all the signs point to it, and it's only confirmed with a blood test after ovulation.

Anyway, good luck... If your cycle is longer, that means ovulation was later too, if you're still testing negative.

Yes, I'm sure I had an ovulation because on Monday, March 25th, I went to my doctor and had an ultrasound. He was big enough and about to pop. Then on Thursday, I went back and he was gone... so I assume he popped on Monday evening or Tuesday... but I'm going crazy from waiting... I've also gotten a headache... ugh. And how about you ladies?
  8. Anonymous #9

    Ahh, then you're definitely it.

And that headache doesn't bode well... you usually get that when progesterone drops... your temp drops too, and your period usually comes within 2 days.

Hope it stays away... but I think tomorrow's the big day for you.

Yeah, usually the ladies I supported had headaches the day before their due date... and it was always a sign of impending labor. You can check out the stats etc. at www.thermo-meters.nl, maybe it’ll give you some insight.

I’ve got 2 kids myself: a son born in Nov 2010 and a daughter in Jan 2012, and no plans for this year. Around New Year’s we’re going to cut the knot for a third... or not. Right now it’s busy though, and my daughter counts as 2 hihi, so present and with a spicy personality.

Ooker so fun!!! Yeah, it's tricky whether or not to have a third one.. today is 4 days overdue and I've been really nauseous since this morning!! I really don't know anymore.. it doesn't look like my period is coming, but yeah

    Hi Sarah7,

Why don't you take another test? Maybe your levels were still too low when you first tested... You never know.
With me, I only got a positive test 2 or 3 days after my missed period all 3 times, but with a very faint line. For the first two, I used a digital Clearblue test afterwards to make it black and white. For the third one, we believed it right away after the two tests with the very faint line. We already had ultrasounds and there's really a little miracle in there now hehe.

Wishing you lots of success and hopefully you can join the pregnant club soon

But I see under your name that you are now 4 weeks pregnant. Have you got more clarity yet?

    Greetings, Mamavan2

Yeah, what mama of 2 says. Try another test. The ones from Kruidvat, 2 for 5 euros, are really good and not so expensive either. And after I got a positive test, I also did a digital one like mama of 2 to read it. I'll cheer for you. By the way, I also had a headache when I found out I was pregnant.

Yeah, I did one this morning... but it was negative. I'm new here, so I didn't know what that exactly meant, so I filled it out. And if I were pregnant, I'd be 4 weeks now... for some reason, I clearly feel like I am, but I'm afraid my body will let me down! I'm going to grab a Kruidvat test later, the 2-for-5 euro one, and see what it says, hehe.

I'm crossing my fingers. I thought I had a 24-day cycle because it was 24 days every time for the last 4 months. Before that, it was 28 days. I also felt all sorts of things and thought I should test on day 24, and I got a faint positive with that test. And with the ultrasound, it turned out I actually had a 28-day cycle, so I tested 4 days too early, and still got a positive with the Kruidvat test. I'm curious. And they're not expensive.
  15. sanjo #16

But I have to say that some women produce more hcg than others in the beginning. It's different for every woman.
  16. sarah7 started this #17

@ Sannie.. yeah, that's true.. well, with my little one, I only realized I was pregnant at 7 weeks.. I had done urine tests before and they were all negative.. I'm just gonna try the Kruidvat one! !

When did you take the Kruidvat test and how long did it take to see the result?
  18. sanjo #19

I had already done it on day 25. It was still faint but visible. I did it in the morning. A few days later, it was clearer. It was visible after a few minutes. Later on, it was very clear.

Okay, so I'll wish him the best tomorrow morning. Yeah, I'm 4 days overdue. .ppfff bahabah
