How do you keep your spirits up?

Hi Regina,

Yeah, I know how tough it is. I've been trying for 1 year and 4 months now, and every time I get my period, I'm disappointed again. I went to a gynecologist in March, got checked out, and both my partner and I are completely fine, so we just have to keep trying. I did have that feeling like I might be infertile, but luckily, that's not the case. That was such a relief for me. You can only go to the doctor after you've been trying for a year, so you still have to wait a bit. That's so frustrating!!! I totally get it. Letting go, yeah, that's so hard, not normal at all. I also try not to focus on it, but I can't help but think about it anyway. Some days I manage to let go better than others. My partner and I really want this too. And it's just so unfair that a friend of mine got pregnant within 3 months while I haven't. I wish it for everyone, but especially for myself

Love, Angel

    Hi Angel,

Good to hear everything is okay with you Now we're hoping a little miracle won't keep us waiting much longer. We haven't been trying for long enough to consider getting checked out, and I hope it won't come to that, of course.

Letting go is indeed so difficult, but when you want something so much, you just can't stop thinking about it. I'm trying not to think about it 24/7 and let things take their course, as hard as that is.

I also relate to that feeling of unfairness... it really stings when you hear that people around you are getting pregnant quickly. And everything around me seems to be revolving around pregnancy and babies right now. On TV, in my circle, etc., etc. But this is also because we want it so much ourselves!

I wish everyone their happiness, but I think it's only human to wish it most for yourself .

Oh my, it feels like I'm hearing myself talk. We've also been trying since November. I always thought it wouldn't just happen 1, 2, 3 for us, and I really, really feel that infertility sting too, especially every time I hold a negative test in my hands. It doesn't help that my sister-in-law and I (coincidentally) stopped the pill at the same time, and she's now almost 20 weeks pregnant. I want it sooooo badly.. Also, my periods are very irregular, do you have that too?
Could we be focusing too much on getting pregnant, which is why it's not working? I wish I knew.
    Xx

You'll see: you're in the middle of moving and you're super pregnant because you just don't have time to think too much about it..
They say stress can mess up your cycle, but mine is so irregular that I doubt that's the cause. I think I haven't had an ovulation at all in these 6 months. Regularity and real periods are hard to come by, so I'm going to see my GP at the beginning of May to ask about it all. Periods now last 5 to 10 days and it's just old blood (sorry ) and very little.

I went to the gynecologist in October -before I stopped the pill- because I wasn't getting my period anymore, thought I was pregnant, which I wasn't, and we actually found that so disappointing that I stopped the pill to really go for it.
So I think the GP will help/examine me right away because it wasn't entirely clear back then what was going on.
I don't think I can keep going like this for another 6 months, I think, even if I just get confirmation from the GP that there's nothing wrong, that would be a huge relief.

Never thought I'd be active on a forum like this, but I do find it nice; at least you get confirmation that you're not the only one for whom it all takes longer.

Good luck with the move and hope it happens quickly for both of us, we've earned it after 6 months!

Yeah, that could very well be the case—that it suddenly becomes "on target" because you're not focusing on it. But we're going to be busy, so I wonder if we'll even get around to having sex... I hope so, of course.

If I were you, I'd definitely go back to the midwife (HA) for your own peace of mind. I'm glad my cycle is so regular, but my periods are quite intense with a lot of blood loss for me now that I've stopped the pill. But well, I don't mind that too much. I don't know if you're ovulating... I'm assuming we are. But again, if it hasn't worked after 2-3 months, I'd book an appointment too. Hoping you'll get confirmation that you can definitely get pregnant... that you know it's just a matter of patience.

Thank you, and I'm crossing my fingers for you that it doesn't come to a visit to the midwife and that we get pregnant soon!!!
