Pregnant or not?

ChantalGuest ·
Dear members, I'm really wondering about something. My first day of my last period was on February 27th. I've had a 28-day menstrual cycle for the past few months. I should have gotten my period on March 26th, but I still haven't! On March 30th, I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. Has anyone experienced this too? Or can someone give me some advice? Thanks in advance.

If I were you, I’d take another test. Sometimes you can be pregnant and the test only turns positive a week after your missed period... good luck :-)

What kind of test did you do? Because some tests only turn positive later on. I hear a lot that the Kruidvat tests for 2 for 5 euros already show positive results quite quickly. That’s what I had too.

Hi, thanks for your replies! I used an Etos house brand test. Greetings

I’ve used the Etos test before, but it gave me a negative result, while Kruidvat was positive. I don’t know if they’re better now.

Otherwise, you could try those 2-for-€5 ones from Kruidvat. They’re quite sensitive. And not expensive. I’m rooting for you.

Thank you! I'll grab one from Kruidvat and test it early tomorrow! Greetings!

I got a Kruidvat 2-for-5 euro test today and couldn't wait! So I just tested and it was negative. I'll test again tomorrow morning. Greetings!

That's so sad. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Maybe wait a few days. I know it's hard.

Thank you! Did you test in the morning? I just tested around 10 PM. Does that make a difference? Thanks!

If you're further along in your pregnancy, you can test at any time. But usually, it's best to do it in the morning with the first urine. I tested in the afternoon, but I hadn't drunk anything for 2 hours. Oh yeah, it took a few minutes for it to turn positive, but at first it was a bit faint.

Hi Sannie, I tested again last night and it was negative, so I don't think so... But I still haven't gotten my period and I'm now 10 days late, so I have no idea what's going on haha. Greetings!

Maybe it's a long cycle. And if you don't trust it, call your GP. Maybe they can do a blood test, because some women test positive only late because they produce less hCG hormone when pregnant.

Did you stop the pill recently? Because that can cause an irregular cycle for months. There's lots of info online about 'coming off the pill'! If you haven't been taking hormones, stress or illness can sometimes also affect your cycle.

Are you trying to get pregnant? As mentioned here, it's possible that your hCG levels are low and the tests are therefore negative. What you could do if you still haven't had your period after the weekend is call your doctor and ask for a blood test.

By the way, if you are coming off the pill, it's quite possible that the doctor will advise you to wait it out. I only got my cycle after about 60 days, and I've read here that there are also women who got their cycle after 90 days!

I hope this helps and good luck!

Hii, thanks for your reply! I’ve never been on the pill, so it’s not about that. And I’m still not pregnant, so I think I’ll call the doctor on Monday. Thanks!
