Here's my birth story:
On March 20th I was induced due to gestational diabetes, I was 38 weeks pregnant then. On March 18th I had a CTG scan and no contractions could be felt yet, but on the 20th I already had contractions that came regularly, though I didn't really feel pain from them, they were more like hard bellies. My cervix was also already softened, so no tablets or gel or anything like that were needed. Around 11 am they inserted an IV and started everything up. When I had to lift my buttocks a bit after lunch to slide the belts under my back for a monitor, my water broke spontaneously. The IV was built up and taken down several times, and at first the pain was manageable, but towards the end it was a real storm of contractions that was hard to cope with, and soon the pushing contractions started too. They touched me and said I was only 7 cm dilated according to the midwife. I said: 'I have to push, I can't hold it back!' She told me to hold on for another half hour, but I really couldn't hold it back. Then everything sped up, I had a small tear and 5 minutes later I had my Ella in my arms. She lay on my belly for more than an hour, had her first breastfeeding, blissful!!! Meanwhile, the gynecologist took some umbilical cord blood and I was stitched up, didn't notice anything :-)
For Ella they took blood 4 times to check her blood sugar, but everything was fine, no consequences of gestational diabetes and I'm rid of it too! Today dad is back at work and we miss him a lot. He's completely in love with his daughter. Together we can watch her for hours, our little wonder!
Anne,
heartfelt congratulations on your little Ellatje!!
Wow, a quick delivery! So glad everything went super well and that you both don’t have to deal with gestational diabetes!
Enjoy your little miracle!
