I'm going to be an aunt!

Hi! So unexpectedly, I’m becoming an auntie and I’m so happy for my only little sister!
She’s already halfway through her twenties and I’m quite a bit older, but I really didn’t expect it since she never really talked about it.
I’m so happy; I don’t have kids myself unfortunately, it didn’t work out, but no one knows except my husband.
I was so surprised by my emotions when I heard the news, it’s the biggest surprise I’ve ever had in my life!
Crying and laughing at the same time from joy.
The funny thing is, or well, not so funny, is that I now see my little sister has actually become 'grown up' overnight haha.
Images from the past keep flashing by where she could barely walk and I’d stroke her chubby arms when she cried for a cookie, and now she’s becoming a mother.
Honestly, I’ve always been quite worried about her and still am, and I get teary-eyed from the excitement sometimes during the day when I think about her, but I’m so incredibly proud, I find it wonderful and nice, and I wish it so much for her and of course for her husband too.
Does anyone else know all these emotions you can have as an aunt?
Maybe because I’m much older, it awakens maternal feelings in me towards her, and that’s why I’m so euphoric with joy and also a bit nervous.

No experience with this yet, but I can imagine you suddenly get that revelation like 'she's already big, she doesn't play with the Barbies anymore' It's nice to experience it up close, spoil her rotten!

My sisters could just be so happy!!! (5 sisters, I'm number 4). Opinions about my pregnancy are divided. One advises abortion and thinks I'm selfish because I don't want to do it. She was 25 years old and studying at the university in Amsterdam, and I was super happy that she became a mom and supported her because I knew our parents wouldn't be happy about it. I'll be 25 in 3 weeks and I'm also studying (but I already have a good diploma). The other is very happy to become an aunt. The rest remain indifferent.

It's very normal that you react this way about your sister's pregnancy, especially if you have a good relationship with each other. A child is a blessing, and the arrival of their little one can only bring joy. There are many people who would do anything (figuratively) to have one. I myself am an aunt to 3 kids, and it's really beautiful. Spoil your sister as much as you can, I'd say. You'll definitely be a great aunt!!!!

    Gr,

    Tina
