Britte or Benthe?

What do you think? Britte or Benthe?

Benthe seems to be more common, I think, so Britte is more original (which we think is important), but maybe a bit posh (and we definitely don't want that). We find Benthe a bit cooler, but it also sounds quite harsh...

    I don't think Birthe is that beautiful.
    I think Benthe is really a lovely name. I had it on my list too, but unfortunately my boyfriend didn't like it enough. Britte is also nice but indeed a bit more "twee". I don't think Benthe sounds harsh at all.
    Our girl is now one month old and her name is Elin! Luckily it was the number one name on my list....

    I think Benthe is nicer. But Brit is also nice, so it's quite trendy. Britte seems a bit posh to me, as you yourself put it. You do hear Benthe quite often. I once came across the name Kente, maybe that's an idea too.

    I like Benthe more than Britte! But I do really like Britt; she would actually be my preference over Benthe;-)

    I think it really depends on what area you live in, because Benthe isn't heard that much here. I think it's a lovely name! It definitely doesn't sound harsh at all! It's also on our list, but for now, another name is at the top (which I'm keeping to myself for the moment, haha).

    I think Britt is beautiful, more so than Britte. But I think Birthe is a nice combination! It's tricky, isn't it?

    To see how often a name appears in your area, check out http://www.meertens.knaw.nl/nvb/. You can enter a name there and see exactly how many children have been given that name up until 2012. Then click on the "distribution" button to get a map of the Netherlands and get a good idea of how popular the name is in your municipality.

    I think it's a great site, but it really depends on how important originality is to you...

    I don’t think Benthe is a nice name, sorry. It reminds me too much of the name Ben. I really like Britte.
