Can I be pregnant?

I had unsafe sex last Saturday (9-2-13) and I don't take the pill. I was supposed to get my period last Friday (15-2-13), but I'm now 2 days late.
Could I be pregnant? And can I test after a week?
I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thank you!

    Hi Izawel,
    It really depends on the date of your ovulation and how long your cycle is, whether it's regular, and how many days it lasts.
    You can find calculations for that here on the site under the "wanting a baby/ovulation and getting pregnant" section.
    The best time to get pregnant is during ovulation, but there are always exceptions.
    Taking a test can't hurt; at least then you'll know for sure!
    However, it's quite possible that in the first weeks, you might not be releasing much hcg yet, so the test could be negative even if you are pregnant.

    @izawel: If I were you, I’d definitely take a test just to be sure, although you can indeed get a negative result even if you are pregnant.
    If I were you, I’d take a test tomorrow (18/02), since you’d already be 3 days late. If it’s negative and your period still doesn’t come, you could take another test after 3-4 days. I thought that in early pregnancy, your hCG levels double every 3 days (but I might be wrong about that).
    Your period can also be delayed due to stress. Are your cycles regular, or do you sometimes get your period a few days late?

    Thank you for the information.
    I did take a test today but it was negative. But after a week you can't really test yet, but since I'm overdue I did it anyway just to be sure. Now I'll wait a few more days and take another test if I still don't get my period. You'll hear from me, and thank you for the info.

    izawel, it's always better to test with first morning urine
    That way, the hCG hormone is more concentrated

    So now I took another test this morning and it was negative again. I still haven't gotten my period and I'm already a week late. Could it be that the hCG hormone isn't present enough after almost 2 weeks? Because the test is negative? Or am I just not pregnant..

    No one here on Brabbels can answer your question for sure.
    Yes, if the test is negative and you're still overdue, you could still be pregnant.
    But it could also just be another reason why you're overdue; you just can't be sure.
    If I were you, I'd contact the doctor and explain your situation. The doctor can examine you and do a blood test, and you'll most likely get an answer then!

    Hi izawel, I think you can only test from the 4th week. For some it's already the 3rd week, but that also depends on how quickly your body produces hCG. Because I also heard that some women only got a positive result in the 5th week.
