Hi Fadila,
Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!
I also had an ultrasound done in the early stages and then I saw 1 gestational sac with a heartbeat and 1 gestational sac was empty. I had another ultrasound done shortly after and then the 2nd gestational sac was also filled, so it doesn't mean anything yet!
It does happen more often that women start with 2 gestational sacs but then they don't know anything about it because normally the first ultrasound is around 12 weeks and then the 2nd gestational sac is often gone.
You'll have to wait for the next ultrasound to find out for sure, but it can definitely still turn out fine! Exciting for you, right! We were also in suspense, is it 1 or are there 2. Then I already said that I would be happy if there was at least 1, so let's just wait. At the next ultrasound, we got proof that there were indeed 2, tears welled up in my eyes and I said, how can that be, that can't be, it doesn't happen in our family, but well, someone has to be the first, right? Would you like to have twins? If so, I'll cheer for you!
Strength with your pregnancy!
Greetings, Jo -

Hi Yo,
Oh, I say I really hope for 2!!!! haha, I've always wanted it so much. But was your other gestational sac also smaller?
My next due date is October 11th! So I'm super curious about the due date!!!
The gynecologist mentioned a vanishing twin, was it like that for you too??
Thanks for your reply. xx -

Hey Fadila, I'll just keep writing here so I don't have to keep searching, now you just have to reply to the last post.
Oh, that's exciting for you! I'll definitely be cheering for you!
I thought that vanishing (do I spell that right?) twin meant that the 2nd gestational sac would disappear. As I said, many women start with 2 gestational sacs but one disappears, and most women don't know this because the first ultrasound is at 12 weeks, by which time the 2nd sac is no longer visible.
In my case, the 2nd sac was smaller and looked empty because you really couldn't see anything in it. It was a transvaginal ultrasound because it was so early, I think 6 or 7 weeks pregnant. And no matter how they held the probe, you couldn't see anything. But a few weeks later, yes!!! There it was
!! So it can still go either way! I really hope for you!
It's really nice, it's twice as busy and hectic but it's also twice as fun! Double laughter and double babbling
!
I'll really be cheering for you!
Greetings, Jo
ps. and if you want to share your story, you can do it here, it helped me a lot back then.

hey jo
well. it was the same with my previous IVF, I was 7 weeks. so vaginal IVF. On that scan she saw 1 small empty gestational sac and 1 with a heartbeat. Then she said yes, think of vanishing twin. So that empty one is apparently just empty, she says. But I find it hard to believe, so I hope that with my next IVF I'll hear the 2nd heartbeat too!!! I'm so curious, because I relate to your story! So who knows??? Next appointment is October 11th. Then I'll be 12 weeks. Really exciting for me, seg!!! pffff -

Hey Fadila,
I'll be cheering for you!
An empty gestational sac doesn't say much yet, just look at how it went for me. In the end, the second small sac was also filled and we saw a second heartbeat, so it really doesn't say much yet.
Just wait for the next ultrasound and then you'll know for sure!
Those 11 days will feel really long, huh? I had that too.
In the meantime, just stay positive and wait a bit, have some patience, hihi.
Let me know what it turns out to be? I'm really curious! I'll be thinking of you!
Strength for the coming days!

Hi Jo,
Quick question? What did your gynecologist say when you saw on the EGO scan that there were two sacs, one empty and one with a heartbeat? What was your gyn's conclusion?

Hey Fadila!
Actually, we just had to wait for the next ultrasound so we’d have real certainty. So basically, just wait, nothing else decided by the OB. And at the next ultrasound, the second one also showed up. At the ultrasound around 12 weeks, you really have certainty. Why do you ask? Did your OB decide something?

Hey Jo,
My OB-GYN said that the small gestational sac is empty and that it probably didn't develop further. So it might turn out to be a vanishing twin. But anyway, on Friday I'll have my ultrasound and then I'll know more... so curious!! -

EXCITING!!! Tomorrow's the ultrasound, right?!
I'm so curious, I really feel the excitement for you!
I went to the next ultrasound with the mindset that if there's at least one, I'd be super happy, and who knows... maybe there are two, but we'll just have to wait and see. I'll be thinking of you! Good luck!

Hi Jo
I had an EGO, and it turned out to be 1! But it's just bliss to see such a tiny baby hihi. I did spend Thursday night in the ER due to a kidney stone attack!! Terrible. So when I saw the heartbeat, I was so relieved!!!
I'm back home now. My right side is still quite sensitive, but apparently that's normal...
Do you know anyone who's ever had that? It felt like literal stabbing pains in your belly, radiating to the navel and lower abdomen! But there was nothing in my urine and blood tests, and the next day with the EGO, no stones were visible either. Is that possible??? -

Hey Fadila,
Oh, that's a shame, but it's not entirely bad since you are pregnant, even if it's only for 1 month. So hereby, congratulations on your pregnancy!!
No, I don't know anyone who has experienced that... That sucks for you, girl! I hope those pains go away soon so you can enjoy your pregnancy.
By the way, do you want to know what it's going to be? We didn't know until the end, and that was quite a nice surprise.
If you want to share anything, you can definitely do that here.
Well, girl, lots of strength and success with everything!!
Love, Jo -

Hi! I'm also pregnant with twins. I'm 10 weeks along and have an ultrasound on Thursday, but I don't feel anything yet, and I can still hold in my belly. I'm a bit scared, though. I hope I'll get good news on Thursday that everything is okay.

Hi hi
I'm also 10 weeks pregnant with a dizygotic twin, but I heard today that the heartbeat of one has stopped, while the other was growing well... which is very strange because I went for an ultrasound last week and they could only tell me that they were lying on top of each other, so the second one was only half visible. And now, after 7 days, I'm told that one is no longer alive. I have to go back tomorrow to hear what happens next. I find it quite scary right now and don't know what to expect. Does anyone recognize this... could they hear something different with a more detailed ultrasound tomorrow... pff I can't wait, so nervous... -

Hi Jo,
I have no idea which year your question is from. I'm sitting here googling my head off looking for info on "twins" (little to nothing to be found, not even funny)... I'm 20 weeks pregnant with twins myself and I'm curious to hear how things are going for other moms or expectant moms who are also pregnant with twins...

Ladies, maybe a bit of a weird question, but I once heard on a TV show by a doctor that women over 34 have a higher chance of having twins. I was wondering if that’s true for you too? Or have you heard about it before? The doctor also said that you’re more likely to have twins if it’s your 3rd or 4th pregnancy. I found it interesting, but I’m really wondering how accurate this is in practice.

Hi hi ladies
I'm also pregnant with twins, but at the first scan, no heartbeat was visible in one of the gestational sacs... the gynecologist said this can happen, and I'm getting another ultrasound on Oct 7 to see if the heartbeat has started by then. Has anyone else experienced this and ended up seeing both heartbeats after all?
