Scared of feeding

Hi ladies,
Don't lose hope!
These are probably cracks... This could be because your little one isn't latching properly (his mouth isn't around the areola correctly) or because he's very eager to eat since it's already quite a big chunk.. Go see your doctor and talk about it; they'll definitely be able to help!
Especially since you mentioned you're starting to bleed while pumping.
Your doctor will surely find a solution together with you, and you can keep breastfeeding and persevere!

Love,

    It could also be thrush. You should take a look in your baby's mouth to see if you notice any whitish bubbles. You guys would then keep infecting each other. Of course, his mouth is a bit white after feeding, but if it's thrush, it won't wipe away with a wet gauze. You might also want to pay extra attention to the way you're latching. I'd suggest calling your midwife; she knows your situation best. Nipple shields could also be an option, but there are quite a few downsides to them. Good luck!

    Warm regards, your midwife (kraamverzorgster)

    @Nora,

    Oh girl, I feel you.. You can get nipple shields and apply Bepanthene, if I'm spelling it right.. I've been doing BF for 2 months now with a really tough start.
    My BF was interrupted due to a lot of hassle. STRESS, really to the point of exhaustion, and I wanted to give up but I'm glad I didn't..
    STRESS factors are less but still present..
    Stay strong and if you feel like you can't go on anymore, that's no shame either, you've tried anyway..

    I read that you should let a drop of your milk dry on your nipples for cracks. There's supposed to be a substance in it that helps heal them.

    Good luck!

    @Maya,

    Yep, and that's also true: it's a miracle cure for breast milk. It even helped with my son's infected eye. Really amazing... But, uh, Bepanthene is also super, you know... for nipple cracks then he.....

    Cheers, Ju
