I found that really tough too.
I think we had 2 boxes of size 1 diapers at home before our girl was born. That way you can get through that first period at home before you have to go to the store again.
After that, we just bought what we needed.
In the beginning, we used about ten diapers a day here.

We used size 2 diapers the least. We switched to size 3 quite quickly (our girl was then 1.5 months old) because they just fit our girl better than size 2 (around the bum, higher back of the diaper --> with size 2 we often had an 'accident' where the pee just came out at her back --> back, bodysuit wet).

I wouldn't buy too many small sizes. With two packs of newborn and one pack of size 2, you'll get a long way! I hoarded so much for my first (thinking I wouldn't be able to go shopping anymore once the little one was here or something?!??) and ended up giving away four packs because I had too many. Personally, I'd play it safe; buying more is always easy enough later on.

I find this really difficult too. Luckily, my sister-in-law gives me a lot of advice; she had a baby girl 7 months ago, so she can help me out a lot.
I’ve bought 3 packs of size 1 diapers, so I’ve got enough for now, and I’ve also picked up 1 pack of size 2 just in advance.
