Hi everyone,

Just a quick update in between; our son Lucas was born last night???
After 35 weeks of pregnancy, the little guy wasn't feeling it anymore and came into the world quite quickly.

He will probably be operated on tomorrow. Down syndrome hasn't been officially confirmed yet, but there are some indications. He weighs 2430 grams.
Well, if he had it 30 times, we are super in love with our little champ and he's doing amazingly well so far; he's not even in an incubator but in a heated bed.

Update later; catching up now, I had surgery last night, lost 2 liters of blood but I've pulled myself together and am taking it easy.

Love, mom Dani

    Hi ladies,

thanks so much for all the congratulations!!!

Lucas had surgery this afternoon, went really well and he’s just so special. The surgeon had to reposition his intestines (they were laid out a bit differently than average, but that’s not uncommon) and his appendix is now on the other side.
The breathing support has already been reduced a bit, I think our little guy is really pulling through.
I’m also doing a bit better, my hemoglobin is slowly rising, I’m on pills for that. Tonight I walked behind the wheelchair from the 4th to the 3rd floor (using the lift) and that went fairly well. Not too much at once, saving energy and strengthening up properly.
Going home on Sunday and then seeing our boy every day.

I’m so in love, he’s so beautiful, I could look at him for hours... pity we can’t hold him that much right now, but that’ll come later.
His sister beams when she’s with him, and his brother was absolutely glowing when he was told he got a little brother.
More updates to come, but I need to go to sleep now......

    @Dani,

Congratulations on the birth of Lucas....
It's great that your boy is doing soooo well.
It's lovely that his sister and brother are reacting so wonderfully sweetly....

Did Lucas wait neatly until you were married?
    That's amazing....
    Love, Ju

    Now get well soon, girl....

A woman came by today and checked Lucas for physical signs of Down syndrome. She couldn’t spot any specific features of Down syndrome at first glance. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have it, so it’s still quite nerve-wracking.

I’m hoping to get the blood test results tomorrow. I’m so ready to be done with this uncertainty; I’ve had enough of it.

We have an appointment at 1 pm, so feel free to keep your fingers crossed if you’ve got nothing better to do!

Just to be clear: it doesn’t bother us at all, and it wouldn’t change anything about Lucas anyway. It’s just nice to have certainty so we can move forward.

The surgeon also dropped by (you wait 10 days, and then they show up every single day!!). Despite Lucas still being on ventilator support, he’s doing really well.

This morning I helped with Lucas’s care, and this afternoon I held him in my arms for over an hour and a half.

I also got lucky last night: I was lying completely alone in the four-bed room!!!! It was lovely. I’ve realized I like doing things on my own schedule (I’ve become a bit selfish here ). There’s a sleeping pill waiting for me, and I’m going to take it now.

    Tomorrow’s a new day!

    Hi ladies,
Super nice to read that your big boy is doing well!! I'll be cheering for your little girl this afternoon too! It's always nice to have some certainty! And of course, you'll love that little guy no matter what the result... Hey, he's and remains a little wonder, such a tiny baby...
So, ladies, rest well and enjoy the time when your little Lucas will start grabbing things before you know it, he'll already be crawling around hihi.. He's doing great, your little boss!!!

Love and we're cheering for you!
