Pregnant during the vdab training

Hi everyone,

I'm currently doing a care assistant training through VDAB. I'm supposed to graduate in late January, but my partner and I are hoping for a baby. Our son is 18 months old now, and I don't want to wait too long because I don't want too much time between the kids. I was wondering if I should start trying now? My benefits aren't dropping right now because it's a shortage occupation, but once I graduate, they'll stop immediately. Is that also the case if you're pregnant? I'm a bit scared of looking for a job and then getting pregnant right away... On the other hand, I'll be 31 in February, and I don't want to be too old when I start my second child...

You’re not “sitting with” a desire for a child; you have a desire for a child.
And I wouldn’t worry too much about your studies either. Even if you get pregnant, you can still finish your education (with any necessary adjustments). And as for a job, don’t stress about it either. Someone who sees your qualities and wants to utilize them won’t mind that you are or will be pregnant. You’re only pregnant for a few years, fortunately. And if you get pregnant, you’ll need to find out about your benefits. If you can still work, you’ll be told to just look for a job. And if not, they can tell you what to do then (if you can’t work).
