Getting pregnant after a miscarriage

Hi everyone
(long story)

In early 2019, we were referred to the hospital because we couldn't conceive.
We had several tests there:
-blood tests
-semen analysis
-HSG etc etc

They didn't find much wrong, so the advice was 'try again for another half a year'.
Since we weren't comfortable with that, we asked for a second opinion.
It turned out my TSH and anti-TPO were way too high (thyroid).
I was put on medication and got pregnant really quickly after that.
During the pregnancy, the midwife told me to stop the meds because the values were sufficient according to them.
Our daughter was born in Nov 2020.

Now we didn't want to wait too long for a possible 2nd child (I'll be 33 in Nov and my husband is 38).
Since I had a lot of fatigue again, couldn't lose weight, and so on, I got my TSH checked again at the end of June.
The result was 11.14 (for pregnancy it should be under 2).
My GP said I should wait 6 weeks and then get another blood test.
Without medication.

Didn't feel right at all.
But what do you do against the GP?
However, in late July I tested positive and immediately demanded medication and a new blood test.
It turned out my TSH was still too high (7), so I was allowed to start with a low dose.

Because I felt bad, it didn't sit right with me, and I eventually got bleeding, I was allowed to come for an ultrasound.
They found 'nothing' in the uterus, and I was sent urgently to the hospital with suspicion of an ectopic pregnancy.

'Luckily' it wasn't an ectopic but unfortunately it was a miscarriage.

Found out on Aug 19.
Started bleeding on Aug 20.
Stopped bleeding on Aug 25.
Aug 30: hcg of 1.4 and white pregnancy test.

I immediately got a referral to the internist/endocrinologist and went there.
Medication was increased, back in 2 weeks for a blood test and I got the Hashimoto diagnosis..
If I get pregnant I'll also be under her supervision, so that's very nice.

Now I found my ovulation last Monday..
Later than expected but that was to be expected..

Somewhere I hope to get pregnant soon.
But on the other hand, the fear of another miscarriage is very present.
And also the fear that I won't get pregnant at all.

Does anyone have experience with this? Or a few reassuring words?

Thanks for reading!

No experience with abnormal thyroid values, unfortunately I did have a miscarriage. My first pregnancy went without any issues. I had a healthy daughter. My second pregnancy ended in a miscarriage at 11 weeks. After 4 rounds I got pregnant again and had a healthy son. Now I've been pregnant for the 4th time but had a miscarriage at 7 weeks...

From what I understand, the chance of another miscarriage isn't necessarily higher with the next pregnancy. According to my gynecologist, a previous healthy pregnancy is also a good sign. I think I would be scared during the next pregnancy, but for now I'm not ready yet because the last miscarriage was very painful. I'm rooting for you that you get pregnant quickly and that it's a good pregnancy.

    Hi Steph,
That's all so tough. And a miscarriage is just awful!
I don't have much in common with these things, except that it also didn't happen quickly for us to get pregnant.
It took 2.5 years for our daughter, who is now 3 years old. And now I'm 22 weeks pregnant with our little boy after 2 years!

Keep your spirits up, it'll be okay!
