    Hey Laura,
This really can't happen, you know. A sperm cell lives for a maximum of 72 hours and can't be "brought back to life" in any way. Besides, they don't stay in a woman's body for much longer than that either. They either die completely or are expelled with the discharge.
I hope you feel a bit reassured now. I noticed last week that you were already worried about this... It's such a shame, it clearly causes you a lot of stress. Maybe you could talk to your doctor or someone about it?

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, I shouldn't worry about it—it's a shame, but it sometimes pops into my head and then I just don't think about it. I hope it's just the hormones. I always thought it would go away with my period, and since I hadn't had a period for a long time before my pregnancy, I thought it was still in there...

Oh, is that what gave you the idea? Now I understand a bit better :-) You don't necessarily have to menstruate for it to happen. It also just comes with your white/clear discharge. If it's not already shed normally.

Okay, thanks! I'm 20 weeks pregnant, so I'll just enjoy it. Instead of thinking that it could be from a sperm cell from a year ago????.

Indeed, sperm from a year ago have long since disappeared from your body. Enjoy now! :-)

That's just not possible! Sperm cells never survive that long, and if it had been fertilized, you'd have been pregnant much earlier anyway! Enjoy your pregnancy!

True, haha, I get that, but because I hadn’t had a period for a long time before my pregnancy, I thought an old sperm cell could stay in my body. Since it wasn’t “cleared out,” my current partner could have revived that old sperm cell. Yeah, sounds pretty weird.

Because you explained it so well, I wanted to ask you one more thing... my thoughts have nothing to do with this being my first ovulation, right? So I was on the pill for a long time and then stopped, no ovulation for 10 months, and then got pregnant. But it has nothing to do with this being my first ovulation, right?

Hey Laura, whether it's your first or tenth ovulation, it makes no difference at all ;-)

Why do you open so many topics here?
  11. laura started this #12

Because it was unclear to me. I wanted to be sure that sperm cells from last year had also left my body, even if I hadn’t had a period. I thought that with menstruation your body gets cleaned out, and since I hadn’t had a period for a long time, I was worried about that.

In your other threads, it's also explained well and clearly.

Did you have biology or sex education?

Yeah, haha, maybe I didn't pay that much attention. But I just wanted to be sure.
