Pregnancy, thoughts

Good evening,

I have a separate question that's been on my mind. I'm almost 19 weeks pregnant and having some strange thoughts. I'm super happy about my pregnancy, but these thoughts are making it difficult. I've been with my partner for 1.5 years. Before that, I had another partner, but I always took the pill and then didn't have a period for a very long time. Now I have weird thoughts that a sperm cell from my previous partner might still be in my body because it wasn't expelled with menstruation? And that it was brought back to life by sperm cells from my current partner. Very strange thoughts, and I hope I can get rid of them soon. Does anyone have tips? And can reassure me?

Sperm can only survive for a few days anyway, so it's really impossible—maybe that's reassuring.
It does sound very confusing, those strange thoughts. Maybe try to just let them be strange thoughts, and if they come up, label them as such and not take them too seriously.
    Good luck!

    Ohhhhhh... hormones are really annoying!!!
No, this is technically just impossible, so no worries about that. But your thoughts are naturally really unpleasant. Maybe you can, for yourself, write down 3 things to think of when such a thought comes up again. 3 nice things... something about yourself, something about your partner, and something about your pregnancy.
    Good luck!!

Oh no, that really can't be. Sperm cells can't survive that long... so don't worry, enjoy your pregnancy!

    Good morning,

I get why you're laughing, and honestly, I'd probably laugh too if someone came to me with this story. I really hope it's just the hormones and not obsessive thoughts or something weird. I hadn't ovulated for quite a while, and then suddenly I ovulated without having a period, so I started wondering what if a sperm cell from more than a year ago was still in my body and had fertilized an egg because it got stuck or something, instead of my current partner's sperm. Really weird, nasty thoughts. Haha, but thanks for this, I'm going to enjoy my pregnancy!
