What do you think of the name Lissa? I like that you can shorten it to Lis and it's a bit more original than Lisa, but would it be really annoying to have to explain every time that it's not Lisa but Lissa? I don't know if that's nice for a child. Please share your honest opinion/advice

Ohhh... that's always so tricky! And very personal.
I find it a bit of a stretch myself. It makes a simple name like Lisa suddenly complex by turning it into Lissa. Then I'd just go with Lis myself.
But hey... I'm only one person... and I think... if you like it yourself, you should just do it. There are many names where you have to explain the pronunciation or how it's spelled. So that's not necessarily a hurdle.
    Good luck!!

Thank you for your reply, Vera!

    I think it's a beautiful name!
It's also quite clear that it's Lissa because of the double s, otherwise you'd get Liesa. I don't find it overcomplicated.

If the pronunciation is Lissa, and not Liieeesa, then I think it works perfectly!
If you want to spell it Lissa but pronounce it Liesa, I wouldn't do that.

I agree with An! I think Liz is prettier, but Lissa isn't bad either!

The pronunciation would indeed be Lissa. Thank you all for thinking along

Still getting used to it, but it's fine.

I like Lissa. I think the sound is nicer than Lisa.

Lissa is lovely! Especially since you pronounce it with a short vowel, the spelling makes perfect sense. And it's a bit less standard.
I know an Alissa, maybe that's another idea too.
