Ovulation pain, but no ovulation?

Hi!
I have a question. I'm still a total rookie here, since my boyfriend and I just started trying to get pregnant.
I have a regular 30-day cycle, I've been off the pill for a few years now, and I can feel exactly when my ovulation is (usually later in the month, because of the long cycle). Then I have more desire for sex and feel some cramps, back pain, etc. I know then: okay, in about a week I'll get my period. I don't even track it in a diary, because my body gives clear signals.
I hadn't felt that this time. But my boyfriend and I had sex on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, the cramps/stabbing pains near my uterus/fallopian tubes started. Also a little back pain. Not severe, but I did feel it. Today, Thursday, I've felt it a bit all day. I also notice I have a desire for sex again.
So... I thought: we probably had sex just before ovulation, so maybe we got lucky by chance! To double-check, I took ovulation tests. But I've taken 3 now (Wednesday late afternoon, Thursday morning, Thursday evening) and all three are negative. So I'm not ovulating now. I see a faint line (next to the control line), nothing more.
I don't quite get it. Am I misinterpreting my body's signals? Did my ovulation already happen? Or should it still come if I feel this?

    @roza your LH peak is 24-48 hours before ovulation, so if you think you've already ovulated, it's logical that the tests are negative

    @Elvira, ah, so if my ovulation was on Wednesday or Thursday, that means the test would show positive two days before, but on the actual day of ovulation the test could already be negative?
    Sorry, maybe I'm asking really dumb questions haha. Thanks so much!

    @roza there are no stupid questions. I always ovulate the day after my positive ovulation test, so the first day the test goes negative again. So that's definitely possible You can also ovulate on the day of your positive test, at least within 48 hours

    Hi Elvira,
    that's May 29/30. I'm getting a bit nervous now! Really hoping it's a hit, but I have to wait a bit longer. I have a somewhat longer cycle (30 days), longer periods, and think my ovulation is therefore always a bit later, like how I got those cramps and lower back pain on day 19 and 20.
    Yesterday I had sex with my boyfriend (no trying for pregnancy this time haha). Afterward, I had about 1.5 hours of uterine cramping as if I was on my period. I don't normally have that.
    4/5 days to wait..
    How about you?

    @Elvira how lovely that you already have two kids. How old are they?
    Anyway, it's quite nerve-wracking here now. So I'm supposed to get my period on the 30th, but I haven't had any swollen breasts like usual, and on the 28th when I wiped I had one instance of salmon-pink spotting (sorry for the details). After that I saw a tiny bit of brown. Now it's the 30th in the morning and I haven't had any bleeding since the afternoon of the 28th.
    It could still start up again, so I'm anxiously waiting the next few days. But otherwise, given the timing, it could have been implantation bleeding.. I keep getting nervous every time I go to the toilet haha.

    Ahh, sounds lovely! Also nice that the age differences are pretty close together.
    The short spotting was 9 or 10 days after dpo. Now it's 11 or 12 days after dpo. Since the spotting, there's been nothing for 2.5 days already. I'll wait another 2-3 days before testing.

    @Elvira ugh yes, this morning. Still negative. But apart from the light bleeding on Friday, I haven't seen anything else. So I'm starting to think more and more: it can hardly be anything else than implantation bleeding. Just a few more days to wait..
    If I don't get my period this week and the test stays negative, I'll give the doctor a call on Monday.

    @Elvira yes, I've been feeling a little down about it. But well, exactly what you're saying. No blood is probably good. And I'm only 2 days late today, so maybe I just need to have a bit more patience. My ovulation was also later, so maybe this all just needs a few extra days.

    @roza I'm only on CD8 right now, I'll look for my egg again on Friday but I really have no hope left, so I'm just going to enjoy my 2 kids extra

    Ahhh! Definitely enjoy your two little ones. And at the same time: sometimes they say that, just when you're losing hope, it suddenly works out. You never know!
