After six months, still not pregnant. Any experience stories?

Hi everyone,
My name is Olivia (23) and my fiancé is Peter (28). We've been trying to conceive our first baby for about half a year now.
From the start, I've been using ovulation tests and know when my ovulation is coming. We have sex every other day. I stopped using the hormonal IUD in December 2020, and since then, I've had regular periods. However, I've noticed that in recent months, my cycles have become a bit less regular, and my ovulation occurs about 3 days later.
I know that half a year isn't long, and people around me tell me to let it go, but that's just not something I can do. I've found some peace in the process, and once I get my period, I make peace with it, but I'm still deeply disappointed.
Are there any ladies who are healthy, generally have a regular cycle, and also had to wait a long time for their pregnancy? You don't want to worry, but somewhere deep down, you're afraid that you might end up with a difficult journey. I think I feel this way as a form of self-protection, because the blow feels less harsh each month.
I'm just looking for motivational and positive messages, and I'd love to hear your stories.

Generally I have a fairly regular cycle, but the problem could of course also be with the man. I wouldn't worry too much right now though—you've only been trying for half a year and you're still young But even if you've been trying for a year later on, I wouldn't give up hope. With my first one, it even took 32 months

It took 7 months here with a regular cycle and ovulation tests For me, unfortunately, there was indeed more going on, but I stepped up to the doctor in time and got my hormone pills in round 7, and then it was a hit straight away
I just had a strong feeling that something was wrong each time with implantation because I kept getting vague positive tests (for NO), which then faded away very quickly against NO. Based on blood tests, the doctor could see that I indeed kept producing a little hcg (it never really got above 50) and then it always went wrong. It turned out I had a too thin uterine lining. So it was solved with the pills

@lien so you got pregnant a few times during those 6 months, so you definitely don’t have any trouble getting pregnant. Super glad you’re pregnant now!

Thank you all for your replies! It's definitely true that it doesn't have to be the woman's fault, but that's not how I'm trying to think right now. Hopefully, it just works out!
@elvira, wow 32 months. Yeah, sometimes after a year of trying, there's nothing wrong, but then you just have mega bad luck. The little one has another year in mind

It took us almost 2 years.
Everything was checked, my ovulation was fine, my cycle was good, and my boyfriend's sperm was also fine.
It was very frustrating to get my period every month again.
They couldn't find out why it wasn't working for us.
We had agreed to start with IUI in June 2019, but miraculously, I got a positive test in May 2019!
That month we had also let go of trying, thinking it wouldn't work naturally anyway, but luckily it did.
Now our son is 16 months old, and we're going for a second one. I'm very curious if it will take as long again, but at least I know we can get pregnant naturally.

So yes, it's tough, but letting go is the best medicine. I absolutely couldn't do that when we had only been trying for half a year, so I understand you.
Hopefully, it won't take as long for you guys. Most women are pregnant within a year.
If not, I'd still have your fiancé's sperm checked. It's a quick job, and then you'll know for sure if that part is good or bad, and you can move forward from there
    Good luck!

With our first daughter (3 years old), we spent 2.5 years trying. Now I'm newly pregnant with our second child and have been trying for 2 years.
My husband has slow-swimming sperm but nothing else abnormal.

So good luck with your efforts!

    Hi Olivia,
I feel you, I stopped the pill in December 2020. So far, no success either. I didn't have a period in January and February, my first normal period was early March, and since then I've had fairly stable cycles (30-33 days). I'm also trying to get off it, but once I'm halfway through the cycle, things get out of hand in my head and I get impatient until my NOD. Because I'm too curious .
    Good luck!

Thank you all for the lovely responses, and I’m so excited for you too. I totally relate to that curiosity.

Meanwhile, I want to share that I’m pregnant, after exactly 6 months! I’m now 4 weeks pregnant and found out 5 days before my expected period. Even though I’ve reached my expected date now, I’m still really nervous and hope I get to experience the first ultrasound and that our baby is healthy.

To the ladies who are still anxiously waiting for their expected period, good luck and really try to wait until that day. It caused me unnecessary stress and tension when I saw a faint line 5 days too early.

@olivia congratulations that's really quite neat because it takes an average of 1 year
