Irregular cycle, could I still be pregnant?

Hi

We've been trying to get pregnant for about four months now, but I have a very irregular cycle.
My last cycle was 37 days, and now I'm already at 43 days. I took an Action brand test this morning, but it was negative.
Could I have tested too early?
I hope you can give me some advice..

Best wishes, Birgit

    Hi Birgit,

If I understand correctly, you stopped the pill 4 months ago?
Your body needs time to 'un-pill', which can take quite a while.
I personally don't think you tested too early, but unfortunately, it didn't work out this round.
Maybe it's an idea to start using ovulation tests? That way you can keep an eye on your ovulation.
And if you don't trust it, you can always ask your GP to check your hormones.

Good luck, I can imagine that an irregular cycle feels very uncertain.

    Hi Nancy,

Thanks for responding. I also think my body needs some time and that it’s nothing this time around.

I’m not going to do another test either, but just wait until I get my period. And I’ll definitely try an ovulation test once, though I’m not sure exactly when to use it. Usually, I do feel when my ovulation is approaching, with that “wet” discharge.

    Thanks a lot!
    Best, Birgit

Birgit, I understand your doubts. A 43-day cycle is indeed long, especially after stopping the pill. The chance of a late ovulation is real, so a negative test doesn't necessarily mean the end. But give your body some rest too. Sometimes it just takes a while for everything to get back on track.
