When do tests start?

Hi ladies,
I was wondering: when do you start taking pregnancy tests?
You read so much online (6 days before your expected period, for example with Sensitest)... I was wondering if that's even possible...

    I tested starting 4 days before my due date in my previous pregnancy, using sensitivity tests. I don't know the 6-day ones. The line was very faint back then, but it did get a bit darker each day. I did a lot of tests, I think a bit typical for a first one...
    We're going for a second now. I'm trying to wait a bit longer before testing, but I find that really hard...

    @anon from 12dpo onwards you have the best chance of having built up enough hcg 6 days before your period is 8dpo, implantation happens from 5dpo onwards, and then you still need to build up enough hcg for a test.

    Both kids tested for NOD 5 days before!

    Just test it at your own pace. Saves disappointment.
