Hi lovely people,

I've been pacing around and searching the internet for days now, worrying myself sick..
I'm usually always regular and have my period for at least 4 days. A few months ago, it was found that I had a slightly underactive thyroid, and I got medication for that. It helped, and after about 3 to 4 weeks of taking this medication, everything was back to normal. Only (4 weeks ago) I suddenly bled for the first time in my whole life, but for max. 3 days (period). And two of those days weren't as heavy as I usually have. I didn't think much of it. Now I had "spotting" on some days. (1x a week) and this has been going on for 4 weeks now. I thought maybe I'm pregnant because I also noticed all sorts of pregnancy symptoms. And I wouldn't get my period for another 6 days...
I don't know if I should just do a test or go to the GP to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. OR if the spotting is purely a side effect of my medication and I'm making up the rest as a false pregnancy... I do have occasional small cramps or twinges, but not as severe as with a normal period.

Hope you understand my story and what I mean a bit..
I don't know, if I am pregnant, should I just wait until I should get my period or should I do a test as soon as possible...

Love

    Hi Lola,

What a lot of uncertainty, girl. It's hard to say what you should do best.
But I would, to start with, do a pregnancy test. And then an early one.
If there's nothing there, I'd wait a bit until you get your period. If you don't, you could do a test again.
If there's still nothing, but you remain unsure... just call your GP, okay. Living with uncertainty isn't good either.

May I ask why you're afraid of a baby? Have you experienced that before?

Strength, girl. Let me know how it goes?

    Hi Nancy,

Yeah I know... tell me about it haha.
I'll indeed wait until I should get my period. Hoping it's not like some women where you get your period even though you're just pregnant. M
What's happening now is that I worry so much because that mid-cycle spotting (bleeding) isn't normal if you're pregnant (unless it's for a few days in a row I read) that I don't have. I've had it now for a month off and on. Besides that I also have cramps which you're not supposed to have if you're pregnant I read...?

Honestly I have 0 clue and have never been pregnant before. I'm just 21 but have had a strong maternal feeling for years that I'd rather be pregnant even though it totally doesn't work out financially and with housing...

I'm one big "overthinking" ball haha.

@lola I'll do a test first, either from Kruidvat or Action, and otherwise I'll just see if I get my period. Why are you afraid of a pregnancy? I always thought you'd have intense cramps if that were the case?

    Hi Elvira,

Yeah, I'll definitely do that. I still have one left, so it should be fine.

Yeah, no idea... I always tend to assume the worst. They're indeed not severe cramps like the first few days of my period. But it sounded really weird to me because I have spotting, which from what I've read isn't supposed to happen at this stage...

I don't know much about this, so I often search myself silly to find out if everything's okay with me or what's going on...

    Best,

I think I should have responded like this. Haha, I probably did it wrong. See the message above????

    Hi Nancy,
My reply went wrong haha. See my message above/below?

@lola maybe ovulation tests are an option? Then you know exactly when you ovulate and thus also when you should get your period. In a normal 28-day cycle, they recommend starting to test on day 11

I’ve got a photo here of my cycle. You can see when I had spotting, when I was on my period, and when ovulation occurred.
Turquoise is sex and blue is cramps/headache (and discharge)...

It’s all quite vague, indeed, my story, so I understand that not much can be said haha.. time will tell, indeed..

If you were pregnant, mild cramps can definitely happen. Some bleeding is also very normal.
    Try to stay calm, girl.
Just take a test and if not, wait a bit.

    I'll do it... thank you?
I just needed some confirmation, I think, for a bit of overview/peace of mind.

@lola a test / get blood drawn and if negative, start using ovulation tests

Had spotting every day for the past few days and mild cramps... I'm going to take a test tomorrow... hoping for good news...
