Pregnancy test positive after missed period

Hi ladies,

I'm completely confused and need your help. I ovulated on the 19th, which I felt, and on the 18th I had a positive CB ovulation test. Eleven days later, I did a KV 2v5 test and got a very faint positive line. The next day, I did a CB test, but it was negative. After 14 days, unfortunately, I got my period. It started with clear blood that turned red with some clots and abdominal cramps. After two days, there was only brown blood, which is still present on day 6, even though I usually only have my period for 5 days. The hope was gone, so I tested again on day 3 of my period, and it was negative. Usually, my hCG clears quickly. But because I still felt very tired and nauseous, I took another test from a different brand, and it was faintly positive again! This is so weird! Yesterday and today, I did another KV 2v5 test, and there's still that faint blue line. At the beginning, I called KV, and they advised me to use CB for the pregnancy weeks. But since it was already negative at the start and I have faint lines, I already knew it would be negative. Yes, it should have been week 5 by now, but it's still negative. I really don't understand anything anymore. Can someone help me?

Kruidvat also gave me a faint test line here at 8 DPO, and he gave a very faint line now, I think. I don’t believe in faint lines anymore, but in darker ones. It could also be that you had an early miscarriage. I’d suggest doing a Clearblue with weeks indicator, and you’ll see. Only this one, I believe, is more reliable. Good luck.

    Hi Gemma.
    Thanks for your reply.
The CB gave a negative result for me right at the beginning and now I've basically always had the KV ones and never a line when I wasn't pregnant, which is why I find it weird. From 3 days before my period there was a faint line but it never got darker and on day 6 it's still light but I'm also on my period. I don't get it at all how such a faint line (low hcg) can still be in my body while I also tested negative on day 4. I find it weird that hcg isn't going up; otherwise I assume I would have tested positive on the CB or had a darker line on the pregnancy test. Could it maybe be an ectopic pregnancy? What do you think?

I can't help you. You've never had it done before, so maybe try getting your blood drawn again to see if it's rising or not.

    Hi Sann,
What you mentioned about the tests, I had that in December. It ended up being an early miscarriage. I never had an hCG rise with the 2v5 test showing a line when I wasn't pregnant.
I'd definitely have your blood checked again and maybe get an ultrasound just to be sure. And then I'd wait a week before doing it. That way, you should be 6 weeks along and should be able to see a heartbeat if it's a healthy pregnancy.

If it's outside the reading time, it could be an evaporation line. I'd still do one more test if you have any doubts.

It was within the reading time, but 2 hours later I did another one and it was negative. Now this morning I did 2 from another brand, one CB with a plus or line, and one Kruidvat early, but both negative. And the light bleeding keeps going on, I don't know anymore. Luckily I have an appointment this afternoon. I would let you know. How are you? Congrats on your pregnancy!
