Ovulation test keeps showing positive

Hi ladies,
I'm going a bit crazy with my cycle, which is usually between 26-30 days. I don't know exactly when my ovulation was, but I think it's not far off.
But now my ovulation test keeps showing a strong positive (with 3 different brands). I'm supposed to get my period next Monday, and a pregnancy test is still NEGATIVE...
Are there any women here who also had a consistently positive ovulation test and only tested positive with a pregnancy test after their expected date? I don't get it because I used an early test. If I were pregnant, I should have seen a faint line by now, right?
The ovulation test has been showing a strong line for a few days now (about 6 days or so) And this while my expected period could come any moment now..

Why still doing OPK tests? With some women, you just stay positive. Is there a reason why you're using ovulation tests? You have a regular cycle, and it's not very long either. So in principle, you don't really need the tests. Saves a lot of tension, stress, and questions like this.

Why would you go crazy over your cycle? Isn't it nice and regular?

When calculating your OPK days, do you use your shortest or longest cycle? For the shortest, I'd say the test is correct. For the longest, add 4 more days. So you probably tested way too early? And which test did you use?

My cycle is pretty irregular. Sometimes 26 days, sometimes around 30. So I have to test to get as close as possible to my ovulation. Plus, in my previous cycle I had bleeding/menstruation 3 days after ovulation (day 18 or so). This was the first time I had something like that, so I just started counting from a new cycle.

Because I wanted to know when my ovulation would be this time, I kept testing for a bit longer and noticed that there was still a peak later in the cycle. It looks like maybe I didn't ovulate at all or something. But having a peak for so long seems unlikely to me too.

I've used the Clear Blue ovulation test, Kruidvat, and Telano. We're going to start IVF soon, and it's known that I have few eggs. Although I did get pregnant naturally in the past once, which ended in a miscarriage. The last few cycles were all fairly normal, 26-30 days. This was the first time I had bleeding in between. The cycle I'm in now seems normal again, except my ovulation test just keeps being positive. I'm on day 26 now and don't feel any signs coming on yet.

Well, there's only one thing to do: wait until I get my period and otherwise do a pregnancy test in a few days.

Oh yeah, and this time I'm assuming a 28-day cycle because I think day 15 was my ovulation. Positive ovulation test and pain in the ovary around day 14. But of course, I can't be sure it actually happened..
But maybe someone else has had a similar experience and turned out to be pregnant. Though I'm afraid it'll probably just turn into a period..

Your cycle isn't irregular at all That's actually very regular, between 26 and 30 days.

Don't you have a frequent sex life? If you have sex 2-3 times a week, you have the best chance of a natural pregnancy. Healthy sperm can live for about 5 days.

If you keep getting positive results on the tests, that's not a pregnancy. If the lines first get lighter and then become positive again, that could indicate a pregnancy.

Just be patient a little longer, then you can take a pregnancy test.

The Clearblue 2-for-5 tests are the best and most sensitive ones. You could take those from day 24 onwards.

Thanks for your reply. Well, for the last 5 months, it's been fairly stable (between 26-30 days). Before that, it was also shorter. Or then suddenly a short luteal phase. So I'm glad that my cycles have been a bit longer lately.. I've also had them from 23 days and then the egg doesn't have enough time to mature.
During the fertile week we indeed make sure to have intercourse every 2 or 3 days.
After my ovulation (which I think I detected) the line was still visible but less clear. Now for more than 5 days always 2 dark lines.
    - or I didn't ovulate and my body keeps trying. Which causes the hormone to stay high.
    - or it could be an early sign of pregnancy. But that's probably wishful thinking..
If I'm not pregnant, I hope I won't see this again. So I don't know if and when my ovulation was..

Next time, stop after a positive test.

It can't be a pregnancy. It takes a while for your hCG to build up.

Do you have a photo of your tests?

    Yes, definitely

Today he was still just as dark. And tomorrow I'll be overdue (at least if I estimated my ovulation correctly).
I'll do a test again tomorrow morning.

Don't you have a pregnancy test?
  10. Mira started this #11

Yes, I tested on Friday, but it was negative. That’s why I’m going to try again tomorrow (Sunday).

Use the Buy 1 Get 1 Free deal at Kruidvat, they respond pretty quickly..
  12. Mira started this #13

Yes, I bought that yesterday too. But I'm consciously waiting until tomorrow.
  13. Anonymous Guest #14

I'm curious about tomorrow. It's amazing that you can wait. I really couldn't.
  14. Mira started this #15

Me neither.. that's why I already had a negative test for my due date. You should really just wait until you're overdue. But go ahead anyway..

It just never worked out when we were trying.

    How are you?

    And and and? :-)

Still a negative pregnancy test I'm now 2 days late and the ovulation test keeps getting darker. My temperature has also gone up. But I assume that means I'm not pregnant. Today (Tuesday) it was negative again. I'll do another pregnancy test on Saturday. If it's still negative then, my cycle is just off and I won't know what's going on... Very frustrating! I don't feel my period coming on yet and my temperature is still high. So who knows what's happening... No idea.

Is there really no one else who has experienced this?
My ovulation tests have been super positive for a whole week now. And the pregnancy test is negative.
I'm stopping the tests now, otherwise I'll go crazy. I'll do one more pregnancy test this weekend. If it's negative again, I'll assume I'm not pregnant.
