C-section scar repair

Hi ladies,
I gave birth to a big baby girl via C-section (breech position) 6 weeks ago. Everything’s going well at the moment, but I still have some pain, obviously.
I wanted to ask how best to handle recovery from the incision. Right now, the wound still hasn’t fully healed, and it’s still bothering me. My gynecologist said it could take up to a year.
Both the gynecologist and the hospital didn’t really give me much info about postpartum care. I have some friends who’ve also had C-sections, and some of them have serious scarring, even with the scar going inward a bit and thickened tissue above the incision.
Do you have any tips on how best to handle aftercare to avoid this? It seems like a lot of us struggle with this?
