period is late, brown discharge!!

Hi everyone, I have something to share, hopefully someone recognizes this! I've been trying for a baby for a few months now. I used these ovulation test kits where I found my ovulation day super easily with the help of an app (got a clear positive), and I also tracked my temperature. On my ovulation day, I saw that my temperature was 0.3 degrees higher. So far so good. Last Saturday I expected my period, but all I got was a small pink spot and then only brown discharge! Which, by the way, was very little... I did have period cramps (which I normally get on days 1 & 2). On day 2 I had a few drops of brown discharge again, and it only appeared after a toilet visit after peeing. Now it's day 4 and I haven't had anything for 2 days. Haven't seen a single drop of red blood all week. Very weird, because I'm someone who always gets a smooth, on-time period. Also my first time having brown discharge... never had it before at the start of my period week. I don't have any other pregnancy symptoms and I took a test yesterday just to be sure, which was negative. By the way, my temperature hasn't dropped either.

Does anyone happen to recognize this? And how did it turn out? I'm curious to hear about experiences. I don't expect my period to start anymore, but I've never had this before, skipping a period/only brown discharge. Really driving me crazy????

    Hi there,

    I went through exactly the same thing last July. Unfortunately, it ended badly. I got a negative test result, but 9 days later I finally tested positive. I’d been having brown discharge the whole time, and after my husband suggested it, I took another test. But soon after, the test ran out and it turned into a miscarriage.

    Thanks for your quick reply. That sucks for you, really! Hope everything turns out okay for you too! Did you have any other pregnancy complaints? I don’t feel anything weird at all, which doesn’t give me much hope haha The only thing that’s happening is that it’s not coming pff

    No, I didn’t have any issues.

    I thought it was so strange too!
    It also took quite a while for my cycle to get back on track.

    I’ll test again in about 3 days.

    Hi there! Yes, yesterday I had another one, still negative, but I haven't gotten my period either. I'm not sure what's going on..!

    @xxzx, yeah... weird. I've also got some weird stuff going on now..... not getting my period and the tests all show a very faint line. Hmm, but I'll wait and see. Maybe I'll get my period tonight or tomorrow.

    Oh wow, a faint line is also positive, right!! The more hCG hormone, the darker your line becomes (that sometimes just takes a bit more time), but in principle, if you see a second line, that's also positive! ???? I would take another test after a few days and call the doctor.

    Why call the GP? If your tests are positive, you can call a midwife for an ultrasound. Or if you're from Belgium, where it's normal to call the GP for a blood test? In the Netherlands, that's not the case.

    Sorry, I indeed meant a midwife hahaha, a GP is indeed not necessary
