Definitely go for a second opinion from another gynecologist. Or go to a hospital where they have a lot of experience with endometriosis and other related issues.
I myself also have endometriosis; I don't have any symptoms from it, but I do have a cyst of 3 by 4 cm on my left ovary. Because of this, my left ovary no longer functions.
After we didn't get pregnant after 3 years, we went to the hospital in Jette (Belgium) on the advice of my gynecologist. There, they noticed this form of endometriosis in me. They advised against surgery because surgery can create a lot of scar tissue and might cause more harm than good, especially when trying to conceive. But that was indeed my case.
Of course, there are women who have an even more severe form of endometriosis; it can also affect the intestines, and in those cases, surgery might be recommended.
My opinion: Find a gynecologist nearby who has a lot of experience, especially with endometriosis.
