Looking for international names!

Henry en FienGuest ·
Hi! I'm Fien and together with Henry. I'm now 21 weeks pregnant with our first baby. Henry is British, so we're looking for an international name. I quite like a lot of English names, but some don't work in the Netherlands (where we live). We just haven't found the perfect name yet. Do you have any good ideas? Our 'requirements' are:
- International
- Not longer than 3 syllables
- Fits with the surname: Watson
- Also works in the Netherlands (so it doesn't sound too plain or anything)

We're curious!
Thanks on my behalf, thank you on Henry's behalf

Hi! We've thought about your options (thanks for that), browsed through the forums and flipped through name books. We now have three names for each gender. Which ones do you like the most?

    Girl names:
    Emily Watson
    Eleanor Watson, nickname Leah/Nora
    Madeline Watson, nickname Maddy/Maddie

    Boy names:
Jonathan Watson (so pronounced Djoh-na-ten, not Joo-naa-tan), nickname Jonah
    Oliver Watson
    Tobias Watson

    Thanks in advance!

I'm going with Emily and Oliver!

Nice options, Henry and Fien! I really like Madeline - Maddie/Maddy. I still associate it with Maddie McCann, but maybe I'm the only one... I think Maddie with an ie looks nicer, but you could go for Maddy with a y for this reason. Madeline is also a lovely name! I think Emily is beautiful too. Jonathan - Jonah I also really like, Oliver and Tobias are fine, but less appealing than Jonathan.

My preference is for: Emily and Olivier. I think they also sound the nicest in the Netherlands.

Maddie with a y is so typically American, isn't it? I always think the Dutch spelling looks nicer. And hey, hey... that association with the McCann case just sticks with you, you know. I'd just go with Madeline; it's timeless and beautiful. Emily might be popular, but it's a lovely name.
