Utrogestan with good progesterone levels

Hi ladies,

We've been trying for our first baby for 1.5 years now. We've already had 3 early miscarriages.

So I suspect something goes wrong with implantation, and I asked my gynecologist for Utrogestan.

After blood tests and an ultrasound, it turns out my uterine lining was indeed too thin (4.2mm), but my hormone levels were perfect.

My gynecologist believes that Utrogestan won't help me since it's meant to restore disrupted progesterone levels, and I should just wait. She sees my age (37) as the cause. She thinks that eventually, a fertilized egg will stick even in my thin uterine lining.

This is making me so discouraged... I'm considering taking Utrogestan anyway, on my own initiative. If I understand correctly, it can't really do any harm? Under the motto "better safe than sorry"?

Or am I seeing this wrong? Thanks in advance for thinking along with me, ladies!

Hi. I'm 40 and have also had to deal with some miscarriages. But in the end, it stuck. I would take wheat germ oil, 2 capsules every day, which I did. And it helps thicken the cervical mucus. With a positive test, Utrogestan or Duphaston (which is oral). I'm also taking blood thinners now during pregnancy, but that's because I have a blood clotting disorder. Did they check that with you?

    Hi Els!

Thanks for your reply and congrats on the pregnancy!!! A friend recommended wheat germ oil to me, so I've been taking that since this round

I'm not getting Utrogestan from my gynecologist because, according to her, it would be useless for me.

They only tested my hormones (LH, FSH, Progesterone, and Estradiol) 2 days after ovulation, and they were perfect. As far as I know, they haven't tested for any clotting disorders.

They also tested my uterine lining in 2 different cycles. An ultrasound on day 2 dpo and another on day 5 dpo. In both cases, it was too thin.

I'm also getting a hysteroscopy because they want to see if my early miscarriages caused an inflammation in my uterus, but they don't suspect that and are only doing it to reassure me.

So, if nothing is found during the hysteroscopy, they don't want to help me further and say I just need to be patient A thin lining makes the chances a bit lower but not impossible.. And I still feel like Utrogestan after ovulation would help build up a thicker uterine lining

Thanks I think you can just get Utrogestan from the pharmacy. You could take it after ovulation. But I don't know if it does anything for your uterine lining. Progesterone is very important during pregnancy, and at our age, Utrogestan or Duphaston can be supportive.
I'd keep taking wheat germ oil every day from now on, and even in the early stages of pregnancy.
    Good luck !!!
