Boy's name

Lisa V.Guest ·
We're expecting our first baby in early April. The NIPT test tells us it's a boy. I'm really struggling to get used to the idea, because I was so convinced we'd have a girl (and we'd already picked a name for that). Right now, I'm having a hard time picturing a 'baby boy', so I hope we'll find a name we're 100% behind soon, to help spark that feeling in me.

Our ideas so far: Gus, Gust, Flor. I think Nand is really beautiful, but my husband's best friend named his son that, so that's definitely out.

What do you think of the suggested names, and do you have any other cool ideas? We like strong names, but they don't have to be short. Since this is our first child, we're open to anything.
Thanks!

    Gus is the nicest.
Gust: Gus is nicer. Maybe also Just?

Hi Lisa! Congratulations first of all! Weird, isn't it, that feeling of being sure about something and then it turns out not to be right.
I really like Gus, not so much the other two. Here are some other options for you:
One syllable: Jur Raf Sef Sil Guy Gilles Noud Sep Bas Lenn Flo Bent Brent Mats Mart Lou Toon Mon Sid Jules Miel Mil Briek Ward
Two or more syllables: Jilles Lucas Gustaf Christof/Christoph Christian Kobe Axel Ole Vigo Siebe Tiebe Lode Hugo Rune Feike Feije Teije Hidde Loïc Dinand Boas Tibo Duncan Cyrus Mingus Magnus Lowie Robbe Lander Remi Kamiel

    Hope this helps!

It's me again. I suddenly thought of Dante or Yves!

I'm not really a fan of Gus, Gust, and Flor, but I don't think they're ugly either.

Thanks in advance for your replies/suggestions!

Debbie, Gus is currently my favorite too! ‘Just’ isn’t really an option because it’s Dutch for ‘just’ here (Belgium).

Lou, absolutely! I’ve really checked a few times to make sure it does say ‘boy’. I just need to let go of the idea of not having a daughter. Of course I’m happy to have a son!
I like Bent, Ward and Ti(e)be from your list!

Anouk, I think Jules, Otis and Twan are nice. The first two are already very popular here. Don’t necessarily look for the most special name, but preferably not too common.

    Suggestions are still welcome!

Gus is nice! Gust is English for gust of wind ... What do you think of Guy?
  10. Most15 #11

I don't find any of the names really very beautiful!
Guus, on the other hand, I really like!
Otherwise: Luuk, Noud, Mees, Lars, Stan, Stijn, Thijs.
It's tough, you know, names are so personal!

Building on Bent, Ward and Ti(e)be:
Wout Stan Raf Ruben Brent Mats Mart Matt Tijl Jens Jurre Stef Jelte Kas Sten Jent Ferre Sepp Jens Seth Tijn Finn Abel Jibbe Tibo Tibbe Fedde Tieme Ibe Seppe Joppe Jeppe Douwe Warre Timme Diede Sieme Robbe Joppe Melle Lasse Beau Lenn Viggo Bjorn Lars Joren Gustav Bernt Esben Bjarn Olan Rune Tord Guss Guus Per Cas Vic Sil Thor Mads Emiel Seb Alec Roef

Based on what you've mentioned, I think - Sten Jent Ferre Jibbe Tibo Tibbe Tieme Warre Timme - really suit you well, but I've also added a few other little ideas.

So nice that you've shared so many ideas!
There are definitely some cool names among them! Some names can't be used because they're already taken by close friends/family or don't fit well with the last name, but we can definitely work with these ideas.
By the way, we're from Belgium, which might influence the choice of names a bit. Guy isn't really our thing, and Gust is very 'normal' here.
Of our own names, we prefer Gus. That could work!
We also like Lou, Wies, Stan, Alec, Finn, and Fedde (as suggested here)!
