Over 1 week due date, suddenly really scared!

Hi! I'm due in 1 week, and suddenly out of nowhere I'm really scared..
What if I'm not a good mom, or can't love my child enough, or what if he doesn't love me? I'm suddenly so afraid that maybe I'm not ready at all, that I won't know what to do.. I didn't really have any of this during the whole pregnancy, and now out of nowhere I'm suddenly very worried..
I don't want to come across as a complainer or anything, I thought maybe someone else has felt this too and it will go away, or maybe some tips to calm myself down?

Love,

It's totally normal, really. It went up and down for me too. It's mostly the moment when it's now so close. I actually got calmer towards the end, just letting things be. And believe me, once you have your little one in your arms, you get this huge feeling of love that's indescribable! I hope you'll get to experience that too soon! Enjoy your pregnancy a little longer, and it'll all be fine!

    Hi anonymous,

Those are completely normal feelings and thoughts. Once you've given birth, that primal maternal instinct will definitely kick in.

It's not just a baby being born, but also a mother, and that's you!!!

Wishing you lots of strength, and don't stress too much. It'll all work out, and you'll get help and guidance from, for example, the postpartum care nurse. Somehow, you'll also suddenly find yourself knowing a whole lot.

    Warm regards, Dani

Those are totally normal feelings and thoughts, really. I can tell you that I’ve had them with every pregnancy so far. Especially with my third one, because my oldest was 11 then. I felt completely lost. But once he was born, I just fell back into it so easily.

Let it wash over you, I’m sure you’re a great mom to your little one.

You’ve got this, girl it’s really going to be fine.

Thanks for your sweet messages! I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this way. It seems like some of you are already moms and have felt the same, but you're still good mothers, which makes me feel a bit more confident. I hope that once he's born, my maternal instincts will really kick in. I'm going to try to enjoy my last days of pregnancy now, and thanks to your lovely messages, I think it'll go much better! Good luck to everyone with the pregnancy, the upcoming birth, and being a mom!!

    Love,

It'll be fine, wishing you lots of success with the birth and enjoy the coming days because they'll be gone in no time.

Aww yes, scary thoughts sometimes, right! I totally get it... I'm 23 weeks pregnant myself, and I have those thoughts too. Luckily, they pass again, and I can reassure myself that they're actually pretty normal thoughts. It's a big deal what's about to happen and coming your way, but I'm sure it'll all work out fine!
    Fingers crossed!
