Cobie or Emmeline

We're expecting a baby girl but are still deciding between Cobie and Emmeline.
Our favorite is Cobie, but we're worried that many people might think it's a boy's name.

I find Connie much more original and special than Emmeline. Was just with my grandmother and she spontaneously thought it was a girl's name????

    Cobie, so sorry, autocorrect

I know Cobie (spelled as Coby) as a girl's name, but I find it really old-fashioned.
Emmeline I like much more, so I'd go for that one.

    Totally agree with Anouk

Emmeline.... We already have 2 in my girl's daycare, plus there's Feline and Emmely. I'd go for Cobie. Something different, fresh.

I also think Cobie is indeed a bit old-fashioned. Personally, I don't think Emmeline is the most beautiful name either (it feels a bit cobbled together from Emmelie and Eline, which I both find lovely names).

But anyway, my opinion isn't really that important. The most important thing is that you both like the name.

I think Emmeline is prettier than Cobie, but I would pronounce it differently: Eemelien

Emmeline is really close to the super popular names Emma, Eline, and Feline. Do you think that's okay?

I'd go for Cobie by a mile! Like Vlinder said above, it's a girl's name from our grandparents' era, but that makes it really original without being pretentious. Plus, I think Cobie sounds lively and independent on its own. Emmeline feels a bit slower.
