Implantation bleeding? Ovulation, how does it work now?

Hi,

I had surgery two weeks ago and probably got a breakthrough bleed as a reaction to the anesthesia, etc. It started a few days ago with brown blood, only when wiping or a few drops. This lasted from August 2nd to August 10th. On August 10th, I suddenly got a heavy period, and today, the 12th, it's over. I wasn't supposed to get my period until around the 22nd... Now I don't really understand how I should calculate my ovulation, etc. From the day the brownish discharge started or from the day my real period started? Normally my period lasts a good week, so those two days already seemed so weird...

I meant August 13th! I took a Kruidvat ovulation test today, do you see a faint line? But I read online that Kruidvat tests aren't that reliable?

The dashes should really be darker. The first day is the day your period actually starts, so with red blood.

This is another negative ovulation test... so I'd say keep testing, and count from when you started bleeding. With a regular cycle, you ovulate around day 14. Good luck!

I've tested for a few days now and indeed, it's negative. I'll assume from when I really started bleeding and then test around the time of my ovulation... However, I don't quite figure out how such a calculation works (sorry, it's all new to me)... On the photo, it says the calculation assumes 5 days of menstruation, but mine lasted 7 days; does that matter? And what about cycle days? I got my period 2 weeks after my last one; does that have an impact?

No, an app gives a "calculation" like you said yourself. You can also adjust in your app how long your period lasted. This doesn't affect your ovulation, which you count from day 1 of your period. Two weeks after your last period is quite short; either you have a very short luteal phase, or you didn't ovulate this cycle. This can happen. Are you maybe still coming off the pill?

I'd recommend starting ovulation tests around day 10-11. The best time to test is around 10 am, so not the first urine of the day. I wish you lots of success, and if you have any more questions or something isn't clear, feel free to ask.

Clear Blue ovulation tests can actually be used with morning urine.

Okay, I didn't know that. I just used regular ovulation tests, and they shouldn't be used with morning urine because your first urine naturally contains more LH anyway.

Clearblue are, I think, the only ones that allow you to use morning urine. They are a bit more expensive, but they give much clearer results with a smiley instead of a line that has to be equally dark.

I had surgery under general anesthesia 3 weeks ago, with muscle relaxants etc. This probably affected my birth control pill and period? Two weeks later, I started having dark but very light bleeding, then stopped taking the pill, and a week later had red bleeding until today.

How many days is my cycle? I always took the pill pack completely empty and then got my period 3 days later, now there were 2 weeks in between... How do I calculate that now?

Oh, how silly!! I was on my period on July 15/16, I was totally confused, so is my cycle actually 24 to 25 days now? On August 9 I got my period this month. It lasted 6 days.
